  1. http://i.imgur.com/mxV9cqL.jpg Honestly, including September I can see everyone in this lineup get a call up at some point - except for Guillotte. Hopefully Brito and Hanson have already had their call ups though!
  2. Well we have more infield prospects than outfield so obviously if any of the utility guys can be at least ok out there than that helps for the future. But yeah it doesn’t really matter in the short term.
  3. I didn't know that about Drury - just looked it up 93 games in the the outfield for Arizona in 2016. His defense that year was significantly below average according to Fangraphs, improved significantly the next year with zero outfield games for the Diamondbacks. Biggio and Gurriel combined 7 games in the outfield at MLB level. You're being optimistic (not like you!) assuming the outfield defense is going to be improved by this combination of 3 part time utility players and the outfield is a valid concern.
  4. We don't know that yet, they've played about 5 MLB games in the outfield between them.
  5. IMO we will probably have to wait for the deadline for a contender to decide to try to replicate the Steve Pearce deal last year. As others have said a pretty good 1B doesn’t have much value. I agree though, a trade now would be good to open up another roster spot. Hernandez could then be the back up 1B and play some outfield too.
  6. It’s pointless Davis being here if he’s stuck on the bench, plus he’s one of only 2 full time outfielders on the roster. Give him time, if he continues to suck then send him back to AAA and recall Hernandez / Alford etc.
  7. That was just a routine win for the Red Sox.
  8. Dan just said we’ve claimed Zac Rosscup from the Mariners. Cordero dfa to make room.
  9. To want to be an umpire (a job where you are only going to be criticised) you’ve got to really like being a control freak.
  10. Phew that was close, nearly crushed that.
  11. Oof that pitch was like 5 foot wide of the plate. Richard likely won’t last much longer (I assume he’s on a pitch count limit anyway).
  12. Nope. Luckily you can just wait until the lineups are announced and then walk up to buy a ticket as the stadium will be basically empty.
  13. I feel like we are going to see a high scoring game today. Vlad to hit a homer to get us started!
  14. Haha, apologies I normally correct that to EST for you guys! If a mod could update that’d be great!
  15. Having said that, I’m expecting Richard to suck today!
  16. Really hoping that Tellez continues to improve, whichever one of Gurriel or Biggio gets called up (if not both) sticks, and a pitcher like Merryweather performs well. We could almost claim the season as a win then!
  17. I’d be so much more content this season if just one of our non Vlad prospects had started their big league careers as well as Michael Chavis has for the Red Sox.
  18. A couple of first team starts from the starting pitchers today:
  19. The majority of people who fill MLB venues with over 30,000 capacity are not die hard fans that will watch no matter what. Those kind of attendances are inflated by people who have a choice of what they spend their disposable income on, where baseball is competing with other entertainment. This is especially true in North America where you get a lot more families in the crowd and it’s a whole entertainment package. When the team isn’t putting on a show (e.g. they are losing and don’t have any famous players/stars) that entertainment dollar gets spent on a film, or a theme park, or a basketball game etc. So we shouldn’t be worried in year one (or 2 if you count last year) of a rebuild as when the team is successful again a Jays ticket will again be a sought after entertainment spend. The closed system of no relegation, revenue sharing, and higher draft picks for the worst teams should also ensure no team ever goes through a 8-10 year rebuild where they bottom out for the full period. IMO that’s the kind of length that could potentially kill a franchise and force a relocation.
  20. This is all true. What isn’t true is that this somehow makes the team unsustainable. Look at Miami. They average under 10k (less than half of our attendance), have a history of f***ing over fans, are in an tourist area where there are many other things people can do for 2-3 hours, have traded virtually all their decent players, and their most exciting pitcher killed himself in a cocaine fueled boat crash. Yet they are in no danger of relocation / contraction.
