    I honestly think it’s because analytics didn’t predict his 2016 break out.

    This is only his ninth start this year, and for two plus years he hasn’t been able to pitch normally in fear of reinjuring his finger. It’s too early to say he’s over the injuries but it’s equally wrong to write him off IMO. 2016 is his only full season as a starter and he was excellent.

    Today is exactly why it would be premature to completely write him off. He hasn’t been fully fit for a significant period since 2016 and he deserves a chance to show he’s over his fingernail issues.

    Ohtani slowly getting back into the swing of things with a slow start but a couple of hits last night. Hopefully he’ll be properly back soon once he’s got a few more games under his belt.

    It looked like he would have left it to the 1B anyway, harsh call IMO.

    That’s a bit harsh on Tellez, catcher wasn’t going to catch the ball anyway.

    They should be given an opportunity this year while the team sucks anyway. Alford might as well suck here vs Buffalo and Pompey is DFA or play when he is back from injury. Maybe we get lucky and one sticks.

    Davis, Alford, and Pompey all should be given a chance this year when wins don’t really matter.

    Nice start for Stroman, man it’d be good to extend him.

    Exactly, he’s looked at home at 3B and his size doesn’t seem to be negatively effecting him as much as many feared. He’s certainly not a 1B/DH playing out of position.

    Vlad might make the all star game on the strength of his defence haha. Seriously though, if he’d made a few errors and looked shaky imagine the increased angst with his relatively slow start with the bat.

    No non-contending team is going to trade for Bumgarner - his contract is expiring.
