  1. That assumes Stroman is willing though. It seems pretty clear that he's asking for more otherwise why wouldn't a deal already have been done? An extended Stroman at a reasonable rate is worth even more in a trade so it's not like signing him to an extension ends any chance of a trade. The problem is what does the FO do if Stroman only wants ace level money and the trade offerings are underwhelming. Hold on and hope someone gets desperate at next year's deadline (potentially the worst option of all)? They will be massively criticised if they f*** this up but I do have some sympathy with them.
  2. Exactly haha. The Yankees’ no facial hair is such a stupid policy.
  3. EE clean shaven looks weird: http://i.imgur.com/bpVevrY.jpg
  4. Jackson to the IL:
  5. He’ll still be only 25 when he’s pitching again. He’ll still be an elite pitcher.
  6. f*** that. If he returns as good as he was before the injury (and there’s no reason to think he won’t) he’s the most exciting player in the game. If he is exclusively an outfielder (or exclusively a pitcher) he’s just another great player.
  7. Ohtani hit for the cycle last night:
  8. Yeah - the only move in hindsight that would have been better is rather than signing Morales after EE turned our initial offer down, wait it out to see if EE changed his mind. But the FO didn’t want a situation where our first 2 options signed elsewhere when we were still aiming for the playoffs. EE would have been easier to move than Morales for an actual asset once the rebuild started as he’s still pretty good and a plus for a competing team. But we can’t really assign blame to the FO considering the situation at the time.
  9. They could move Tepera to the 60 day IL as he's not due back for a few weeks at least. Then send a reliever down who still has options to make room on the 25 man. Would be simpler to just dfa Jackson but hey ho.
  10. I think I cracked the case! http://i.imgur.com/KVK5nl1.jpg
  11. As he’s not on the 40 man I guess this is the end of Jackson's career.
  12. Yup. And even if Edwin had accepted the contract offer, there is 0% chance he’d still be on the team this season. He’d have been traded by now.
  13. Ah right. Yeah you'll prob get lots of online sites setting up. They almost monopolise the sponsorship of UK sports - there's lot of potential JFL gambling addicts here!
  14. Isn't sports gambling illegal in America outside of Vegas?
  15. His contract was due to expire at the end of this season though. We’re not going to be able to properly evaluate the returns for Giles etc immediately. If the trade deadline acquisitions perform as badly in 2020 as McKinney and Drury in 2019, then Atkins’ job may be on the line.
  16. We were rubbish today, it's been a long season and the players looked tired.
  17. 1-1 at full time so they play 30 minutes of extra time (in two 15 minute halves).
  18. Of course Braden won't sign, as Brandy would tell us - 34 is the only number that mattered to Roy!
  19. Blue Jays opt for two pitchers on Day 1 of Draft Manoah has 3 pitches not 2 according to the Jays’ scouts. “Alek’s got a really good feel for his changeup, [he] doesn’t use it quite as much as the slider,” Sanders said. “This year we saw primarily a two-pitch attack with his fastball and his slider, but he did mix the change in occasionally and it’s a really effective third pitch. We really love what Alek brings to the table in his now stuff but do see room for him to continue to develop and to continue to improve. He’s got a really well-rounded three-pitch mix that’s going to play at the next level.”
