  1. Kris Bryant has no pick attached, just saying .
  2. I would actually open that entire comments section and read it on my morning commute to work haha. Would be a spectacular read.
  3. I've been seeing some Freddie Freeman rumors on Reddit from a guy who broke some Jays news in the past. That would be interesting to say the least. Guessing they would be banking on Vlad's offseason work and putting him at 3B.
  4. I like Kirk as DH too, and once Moreno is up, the lineup looks super stacked.
  5. This. What upside is there to Matz at this point? His velocity is good at 94-96 and he's still a #5 starter on a good team. There's not much more to him, he doesn't miss a lot of bats.
  6. Is it though? He's a 4 fWAR pitcher with two more years of control and potential to be an ace in the right environment. He's very similar to Berrios actually. I don't want to part with Moreno, Martinez or Pearson if we can avoid it. I suppose we could replace Gurriel with Biggio, but I doubt Reds budge for that. It needs to be a bit painful for it to work.
  7. I'll say it until I'm blue in the face but sign Jon Gray & try and trade Gurriel, Kirk, Groshans ++ for Castillo.
  8. I would do a trade for a SP as long as we keep Moreno and to a lesser extent Martinez & Pearson. I'm fine with dangling Groshans, Kirk & Gurriel as bait, but don't want to empty the pool of our best sharks, so to speak, if we can avoid it. Question is, would Gurriel, Kirk & Groshans + get you Castillo, or would he cost some of the above names I'm hoping we don't part with.
  9. Yep I would 100% overpay for Mad Max and if we get burned finally by father time, so be it, but would sleep sound knowing our process was perfect!
  10. I agree. A dropoff in velo or spin and those results could come crashing down. Sad to see Verlander leave the market but Jon Gray & Gausman or Scherzer would the best.
  11. Ughhh .
  12. Legit front end, no, but maybe someone with potential to become one like Jon Gray (he's project for 15M AAV or so) then you toss another cheap 1Y at Kirby Yates and hope he's good for this season? Could get 2 potentially decent pieces in SP & BP for 18-20M
  13. Thinking about it further, my ideal off-season is probably below: - Justin Verlander 2/44 - Jon Gray 3/48 - Marcus Semien 6/144 - Raisel Iglesias 4/60 Total added AAV of 76M (21 + 16 + 24 + 15) That said, you don't necessarily need the last two. You could sign a stop gap like Kyle Seager to platoon with Espinal at 3B for a year until Groshans or Moreno gives them the boot, while Biggio keeps 2B warm for one more season and revisit in FA 2022. And Iglesias may be too expensive, but he sure is a beacon of consistency like Hendricks is/was. He'd be a nice add nonetheless.
  14. Verlander + Jon Gray sounds great to me. Probably something like 35 AAV combined.
  15. Gray is worth an 3M AAV over the same period than Matz, so I would still do that. Gray in the right situation has ace upside, Matz does not.
  16. Interesting. I would like Ray/Gausman + Gray. Who do you think costs more; Matz or Gray? If they're equal, I definitely want Gray over Matz.
  17. I don't want to waste 12M AAV on Kyle Seager when Espinal likely equals his WAR for league min.
  18. There was a stat ahead of this season that said the change in ball would prevent wall scraper HR the most, and then someone posted Biggios average home run distance which showed the balk of his HR were wall scrapers. He has power, but don't you think increasing his strength would perhaps turn those warning track balls (previously wall scrapers) into HR again?
  19. I'll preface this by saying it's easier said than done, but Biggio should completely revert his approach back and spend the entire offseason building strength/muscle to combat the change to the ball that way. In theory, if he's stronger, the balls will carry farther, but I know 1+1 doesn't always equal 2 in this case.
  20. I agree. Sounds like Pitch Mix or even delivery? Ray used to do the same thing. Gray is ahead of where Ray was at though and has more pitches in his bag. Like you suggested, maybe increasing CB/SL usage and decreasing FB usage will make the latter play up. I would also suggest seeing if he can toss it in the upper 3rd of the zone to try and miss bats with it there.
  21. I'm on board with this. Let's hope our FO feels the same way.
  22. This is my exact assumption yes. It could be a wrong assumption, or may not produce the same results, but Gray's issue, from the outside, doesn't seem to be stuff. Fixing the below could pay dividends and then some for whomever signs Gray: 1. Altitude - get him out of Coors where breaking balls die and FBs go to the moon 2. Pitch Mix - this could be a Pete Walker and Matt Buschman fix 3. Confidence - this is definitely a Pete Walker strength from everything we've read
  23. I agree 100% with all of your post. Gray is my guy out of that group as well as long as his decrease in K/9 the past few years isn't a result of a decline in stuff. If his stuff is the same, you sign Gray, get him out of Colorado, put him with Petey, and reap the rewards. The guy is an ace if he puts it together and the stuff is still the same. Gray + Thor + Max Max (Or Ray, Rodon, Gaus) is my ideal pitching offseason. Thor would only be a 1Y deal so he's off the books after 2022. Gray, like you mentioned, I'd try and lock up for 3Y cheap AAV. Mad Max is probably getting 3Y high AAV and he's ageless, so I would do that without hesitation.
  24. I like this. All realistic. All you need is to hope that just 2 of Matz, Thor, Gray, or Pearson are gems and it's great! Pete Walker did wonders with both Matz and Ray, so I imagine he'd do great with Gray now that he's be out of Colorado. Thor just needs to stay healthy. Same goes for Pearson, but he also needs a confidence boost.
  25. Angel Hernandez next please
