    Not a huge fan of Bryant. A lot of the underlying metrics like exit velo/etc are trending in the wrong direction. He's not someone I'd commit term to. Honestly, would rather sign a stopgap 3B until one of Groshans/Martin/Moreno crushes and assumes the position. Then we can spend our payroll on internal extensions to Ray, Vladdy & Bo and FA top-end SPs. Scherzer would top my list as a priority sign.

    Man SWR got shelled again for 6R & 4ER. Still striking out a ton, but weird to see. Looking pretty hittable the past 3 starts.

    He's an interesting case, because up until this season, he was always a guy with mediocre-bad peripherals. This season that hasn't been the case the peripherals caught up to the results. With hindsight, we obviously should have signed him but can't blame them for not.

    Be nice if Martin or Groshans were destroying the minors and earning a later season call-up, but unfortunately they're just having adequate seasons but great for their age, like Bo's AA season. We could have seen Moreno, who was playing some 3B, but then he got hit by that pitcher, and shelved .

    With the rumored Nelson Cruz acquisition: 1 - Semien (2B) 2 - Bichette (SS) 3 - Vladito (1B) 4 - Cruz (DH) 5 - Springer (CF) 6 - Teoscar (RF) 7 - Kirk © 8 - Grichuk/Gurriel (LF) 9 - Biggio (3B) That's disgusting, and opens up a trade of Grich/LGJ once Dickerson is healthy so a platoon can be formed. Ideally we trade Grich but Gurriel definitely has more value.

    I don't ever want to see Thornton throw another pitch in the majors for us. Please demote him when Richards is here tmw. And we definitely need to upgrade Matz at some point after the ASB.

    Agreed completely. And I don't see Atkins trading from our Top 6 or so prospects, which means we probably don't get someone like Scherzer or Berrios back to be our ace.

    Absolutely and even in his "good" starts, his K% has plummeted.

    Could always sign him and trade him once they're ready. The gamble is can he keep up the performance long enough from Martin/Groshans to force their way up. I don't want them being given anything, let them destroy the upper minors 1st.

    3.30 BB/9 heading into this start. Above average. Now, it's 5.4 after this start. But sure, tell me it's false.

    His control hasn't been great this season, and this start will only balloon it. Looking like career line Robbie Ray, with high K/9 & high BB/9

    What happened to Ryu's K%? Over the past 4 or 5 starts, it's flatlined.

    I remember seeing someone post about Ray's spin-rates not changing.

    Yep I'd do that hands down. Love Groshans, and he may turn into Donaldson in a few years, but it's hard to balk at the short term gain of that trade. Berrios for another year caps it for me. Cruz would be a great leader to add to Semion and Springer as well. Yep and LGJ could learn a ton from him. It's possible that Moreno gets transitioned to 3B as well, at that point. So when he's up next season, no need to find a spot for a Groshans.

    I agree. Promote him. Couldn't really hurt. If he gets shelled demote him. He's just a reliever. If he dominates, he's that much closer to helping us this season or next.

    That said, WAR probably drives a lot of FA contracts now, so let's hope they fix it after we extend Ray .

    Yeah fWAR is based on FIP. Ray's HR rate drive the high FIP. It's frustrating, and I believe fWAR for pitchers should incorporate xFIP a bit more, which normallizes the HR rate.

    Yeah. Hitting upper 90s with 4 pitches and getting shelled in High A. Weird to see.

    Wonderful. Alternately, if Groshans pans out, could have below Hernandez - Martin - Springer Groshans - Bichette - Biggio - Guerrero Moreno Kirk Beast-mode with Gurriel as the 4th OF.
