  1. If we strikeout on Freeman and Ramirez, I pivot to Rodin and stack our rotation. Espinal is looking super jacked, maybe he has a breakout from last year? And we have Moreno, Smith & Groshans pushing for a debut this year potentially.
  2. I agree. Kirk is a valuable trade piece, especially of we sign Freeman. With Moreno coming up, who can play 3B and C, we're really trying to be the Raptors of the MLB with the lineup versatility.
  3. You don't even need to commit to Vlad full-time at 3B. Just sign Freeman, and try Vlad there until one of Moreno/Smith/Groshans/Martinez pushes him off. Then you can deal with the 1B/DH rotation with Freeman and him.
  4. I agree mostly, but we do have some helium guys like Tiedemann, maybe Law already rates guys like that, while the rest of the publications want to wait to see the stuff translate to results?
  5. If not an ace starter, I'd definitely buy our own version of Andrew Miller. That would be a fantastic, non ace starter, outcome.
  6. I just read about Bonilla, plus hit tool, prodigious raw power, big arm, size, and tons of athleticism. They also noted he has very little swing and miss. This is the OF prospect we've been hoping for. I can't wait to see him with our development team and using the Dunedin Complex to train.
  7. Wait a minute, he was responding to wamco, unless... He's your alt account? Otherwise why are you defending him?
  8. Yeah, he's been a chubby build since he was kid, it really is a massive lifestyle change.
  9. If no trades or signings happen that would involve those positions, it could work. If someone like Bryant (3B/OF) or Freeman (DH/1B) sign though, it would cause issues.
  10. I agree with this. That said, signing Freeman and trading for Ketal is taking on roughly 35M, while signing Bryant & trading for Ketal could be in the 25-30M range, thus saving 5-10M. So the question would be two-fold, does the offensive regression of Bryant vs Freeman plus not having that 5-10M for BP/SP5 upgrades outweigh the alternative? If it were up to me, I sign Freeman and trade for Ketal and call it an offseason happily without any extra upgrades to pitching on top of what we've already done.
  11. I totally agree lol. I just wish we were in the open FA hype period again when any of this could happen any moment, instead of perpetual state of pause, like we are in now. It's definitely exciting though. A fairly cheap Bryant + Marte trade (while only giving up money, Kirk and Biggio) would be a phenomenal outcome and fills current and future gaps while maintaining lineup flexibility. It's so perfect, I'll now be upset if it doesn't happen.
  12. I mean, that is perfect. I can't argue with any of your suggestions above.
  13. Yeah, reading your response, I could see how Bryant could work defensively, I just don't trust his bat to age well, with exit velos declining every year and his inconsistencies. Freeman, I trust. The big issue with Freeman is the DH clogging that will occur with him and Vladdy which would screw Springer more than anyone. A lot of this is hope on my part, but ideally, a thinner Vladdy can work there part-time to make a lineup like below work in the future, but you're hoping Springer wouldn't need an extended DH stint: DH Springer 1B Freeman 3B Guerrero Jr SS Bichette RF Hernandez LF Gurriel Jr C Moreno 2B Biggio CF Grichuk
  14. I would rather spend on Freeman and temporarily have Vladdy rotate between 3B, 1B & DH. Then when Moreno is ready he isn't blocked and Vladdy now moves between 1B & DH with Freeman. I like that better than the hoops to jump through to make Moreno & Bryant work.
  15. Merry Christmas everyone!
  16. I agree. It's so much easier and cheaper to replace a 110-130 wRC+ corner OF than buy a star 3B or middle IF bat.
  17. I would balk at Moreno being included for sure.
  18. I would 100% do that trade for Ramirez.
  19. Well I mean, I read that guys topped out mostly in the high 80s/low 90s, but the attached article has some guys like Walter Johnson & Bob Feller hitting Upper 90s. So who knows.
  20. I'd be so down for that.
  21. Yeah, that was just dumb. Literally a trade just to make a trade, and we'd be losing on value short term and definitely long term.
  22. Can Bryant or Ramirez play 2B? Or maybe they could have Moreno try out at 2B if they get 1 of them and stick them at 3B.
  23. Marte is a good shout. He has 2 club options for 23 & 24 so I wonder if his cost would equal Ramirez? I wouldn't want to do 2 trades as that certainly would empty the farm with Groshans, Pearson, Martinez & Kirk likely going the other way. 1 of Marte or Ramirez makes sense though.
  24. Yeah most likely. Taylor sign or Ramirez trade seems most likely at this point. Honestly I'd be happy with any of below: - Taylor - Bryant (less happy because of cost) - Freeman - Ramirez (as long as it doesn't cost Moreno)
