  1. Wouldn't it be nice if some of the hard work Goins is putting in rubbed off on fat ass Navarro.
  2. Very cool man.....although I got stuck looking at how fat Bartolo is for like 3 minutes there...
  3. Seriously - how good is Correa?
  4. Hendriks (like Sanchez and, well, most pitchers in general) does lose velocity when starting. It would appear his "home" is in the bullpen. He's been given 34 career starts in the majors and the results have been at or below replacement level. He's been dynamite out of the bullpen. Kudos for AA for grabbing him and then finding a way to keep him in the pen to start the year (which gave him the opportunity to prove he could succeed there).
  5. Isn't it more odd that Panda isn't on that list?
  6. Zero reason? I see a couple: 1. You'd have to send Sanchez down for a few weeks to build him up to be a starter. 2. He already hurt his shoulder pitching in the rotation. Young kid, likely with an innings limit. The move to the bullpen may help protect him long term. 3. He wasn't very good as a starter.
  7. Why can't we all just agree that pitchers should be evaluated based on a number of factors? Most of the evaluation should come from the various stats we have available to us (and we should acknowledge that no one single stat is perfect), mixed in with some visual assessments to help prove or disprove what the stats suggest are true? I think if we do that, we realise that Hutchison has not pitched well this year; however, on top of that, he's also been a bit unlucky (we should all acknowledge there's a lot of luck involved in baseball). Can he make adjustments and go on a tear in the second half like he did last year (when he apparently made an adjustment on how he was throwing his slider)? I sure hope so.
  8. Agreed - Fred's been really solid, although at times I do miss the slapstick comedy stuff. Who doesn't like hearing people call in and tell about crazy/dirty/gross sex stories?
  9. I believe Dean's response was that Lowe is one of the best relievers in baseball. At that point, I regrettably flipped the channel back to Rock 95 and shook my head at how awful the radio choices are these days.
  10. I expect AA is working his tail off to grab another Doubront (or better) off the waiver wire to help the depth. I also wouldn't be shocked to see a claim/trade made.
  11. I think it's doubtful Stroman returns as a starter. I'm hoping he's Tim Lincecum out of the bullpen in 2012 (or whenever he was dominate in that role)
  12. Some guy called into Dean Blundell this morning and said they should make Mark Lowe a starter. It was awesome.
  13. David Wright could if he could overcome this spinal thing. 52 WAR through age 32. I find it amazing Brian Giles had a higher career WAR than Vladdy...
  14. I'll throw out Carlos Beltran, but I think his body broke down just a little too early. He has more career WAR than Robbie Alomar, but I think he'll miss out.
  15. - Goldschmidt's career wRC+ is 33rd all time right now - he's well on his way. - Votto might have to stay remarkably healthy and productive late in his career to do it (perhaps like Helton aged...), but right now his career wRC+ is 19th all time and thus he deserves consideration IMO. I find it amazing that Beltre has a shot to reach 3,000 hits if he can stay healthy for another couple of years. Always seemed like he was a disappointment as a hitter (save 2004) until he went to Boston in 2010. He'll have 9 full seasons with a wRC+ at or under 106 if you include this year. That said - clear cut HOFer.
  16. Who are the rentals? Price, Lowe and Hawkins? Tulo and Revere are under control.
  17. Thanks for helping a guy out Boxcar.
  18. Seriously - did you see him pitch vs. the Jays like 5 days ago? This man is lights out. You realise there are stats the include park factors eh?
  19. Apparently I don't know how to insert a .gif That is frustrating.
  20. Nobody's bothering because it's irrelevant. He's good right now, we need him right now and he likely won't be back next year.
  21. He's a rental.....we'll take the Delabar fluke season all day long here in 2015. Like Delabar, he's a guy who's been hurt a ton in his career. He's healthy and he's fantastic this year.
  22. He is a rental isn't he?
  23. I agree with this. I was thinking we really have little to no team speed after losing Reyes. This is solid IMO, but the team must hate Pompey....
  24. Lowe would be an amazing pickup.
