    My point was it seems as though a lot of 2nd basemen fall off the cliff (or up the stairs - that was beautiful CHRIS) in their early 30's. I'm not sure how that relates to Mark Lowe, although I must say I think he's a risky investment and yes I would be leery of giving him a 3 year deal.

    I just see that as he wants to pour as much $ into starters - at the expense of keeping "good" bench players. It's a risk/reward thing. To be honest, it worked this year with Goins providing a ton of value while costing next to nothing. It didn't work out in LF due to a combination of the Saunders injury and Pompey sucking the hind tit.

    Wait - he shouldn't have expected a 32 year old second baseman to fall off a cliff? Perhaps it's folklore, but I tend to see that as common knowledge.

    How on earth can you say that with any confidence? Hoffman, Norris, Castro.....these guys could all become studs like Noah has (and TDA to some extent).

    Really? it feels like defence was underrated like 2-3 years ago....like OBP was back in the Oakland moneyball days. Like OBP I think teams have caught on and it's the new 'cool' thing. I actually expect it win become overvalued in a couple of years...

    They may have 30-40 million to spend in 2016...but take a gander at 2017. It may strongly limit our ability to add a top pitcher when Tulo, Donaldson and Martin are all making $20M+ (and that's assuming both Bats & EE are gone....scary)

    BAM - you just got Northed.... Personally - I'd keep Tulo as I suspect by 2017 we may not have Bautista or EE (or at least 1 will be gone)....the core of the offense will be built around Donaldson, Tulo and Martin...

    It's kind of ironic that "Toronto" would comment about snow days. They get an inch of snow and have to call in the army...It's pretty embarrassing.

    What's Friedman done that I should be raving about again? Traded Kemp for Grandel, traded for Alex Wood, signed Anderson, McCarthy and Howie Kendrick. Did I miss something interesting?

    That's pretty close to saying "we want to have the best pitching/defense and the best offense in baseball" Like thanks Captain Obvious....everyone wants that.

    Is it too much to ask for someone who uses BOTH saber and traditional scouting to make educated decisions?

    I'm going to remain positive because I generally agree that he did as much as he could with what he had. They have a good young team there. Kipnis, Brantley, Lindor, Santana, Salazar, Kluber, Carrasco....there's a lot to like there. If Swisher and Bourn didn't completely bomb out of nowhere - this team would have been a central division contender.

    I think I don't know enough facts to generate an intelligent opinion about how Rogers conducted themselves...I would hope that view is shared by most.

    Um - it was a joke based on the movie clip. I've seen the movie.

    Agreed - some of you are so critical. I found the movie to be entertaining and a good way to open up the minds of the average baseball fan.

    I agree. AA found the loop hole in the old CBA and exploited it. He was also one of the first to grab a bunch of 4 year guys at low dollars to make space....it seems some are copying that already - but really at the end of the day it's too early to know if that's successful.
