  1. Anyone else notice Olerud and Delgado are both trending on the Fangraph's website (when you just click on the search square and a list of trending names comes up)? I can only assume that is directly related to this thread and all you nerds who, like me, went to compare Olerud and Delgado...
  2. Surprisingly because you think I'm dumn?
  3. Was the Seinfield episode based on Ricky? Or was Ricky just a huge fan?
  4. Holy man...it was a joke. I was joking.
  5. Funny thing is, the 2013 and 2014 version of Martin is probably exactly what we should expect from Pillar moving forward. In 2015 Martin fetches a middle reliever (who's basically Delabar) and people getting paid to follow baseball are suggesting TiaWalker for Pillar... Craziness.
  6. Is the audio or written comments from Wilner still available? What an interesting read it would be...
  7. Even if it is - Delgado is on the ring of excellence while Olerud was platooned, underappreciated and traded to the Mets for Robert f***ing Person....oh and the Jays paid $5M of Olerud's $6.5M contract. The best thing to come from it was trading Person to the Philly's for Paul Spoljaric... Olerud goes on to put up 18.3 WAR in 3 seasons for the Mets. It's pretty shocking when you look back at it...
  8. I don't think Cito liked how Olerud wore a helmet in the field. Check that - I don't think anyone did. Looked funny. It's kind of ironic how Olerud had a better career than Delgado
  9. Didn't the whole twitter exchange start because Wilner said he didn't like Revere hitting leadoff?
  10. In which era was it a bad idea to get your best hitters the most at bats again???
  11. If you follow Pillar you'll notice he has massive hot and cold streaks. He was hot at the end of the season and into the playoffs...
  12. We're going to have to - as they are likely both gone in 2017.
  13. Exactly. Take the money up front, invest it and watch it grow. Compounding returns are awesome.
  14. Because math. $26M > $16M
  15. This discussion on whether Pompey can play CF are fascinating. I never realised there was so much doubt about it.
  16. And Chapman could blow out his arm...
  17. screw you guys.
  18. I don't disagree one bit...guess that's why the Jays get paid the big bucks. Personally, much like AA - I prefer targeting players with multiple years of control.
  19. It all depends if you think the adjustments he made last year were sustainable. If they are - JBJ has massive value.
  20. Except Pompey could give us 3 wins as a fulltime player on a $500,000 contract, which is like $23.5M surplus value + 5 more years of control. I agree he's likely who the Reds would want, but given the uncertainty of Jose beyond this year and his god awful defense & the possibility Pillar has a massive regression....I think you want to keep Pompey around.
  21. I see Justin Jackson the list as well....oh those days.
  22. I'm not advocating the signing of Colby Lewis at all, but he did post a 2.6 WAR last year and Steamers puts him at 1.1 WAR in 2016. Estrada is coming off a 1.8 WAR season and Steamers puts him at 0.8 WAR in 2016.....yet people want Estrada back, possibly on a multi year deal, while others suggest Lewis should only be offered a minor league deal. That seems odd to me.
  23. more anger - you're quickly becoming my favourite poster.
  24. I rode that horse last offseason and everyone acted like I was on a donkey.
