  1. 1. because essentially nobody expects Pillar to put up another 4 WAR season ever again. 2. because Soler is 23 and under contract until 2020. 3. because Soler was ranked (by BA) as the #12 prospect last year between Syndergaard and Sano and was one of the 3 best batters in the minors in 2014. I love Pillar (can't help but root for him), but think I'd roll the dice - Soler was a beast in the minors. His K%'s were high, but not nearly as high as they were in what was a disappointing 2015 season. He also walked a fair share in the minors with BB% well over 10%. He has Puig/J.Upton potential with the bat (and hopefully without the baggage). I think if you're given the perfect storm (as the article says, they are looking to upgrade and find a pure CFer) and can sell high on Pillar to land someone with the upside of Soler - you do it...especially when you have a replacement in Pompey... Nevertheless - interesting discussion. I can only FAP to Travis's GF for so long.
  2. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/where-the-cubs-go-with-jorge-soler/ Has there been any open discussions on the merits of trading Pillar+ for Soler and rolling with Soler/Pompey/Bautista? Soler would help replace the power if/when Jose or EE leave after next year and it frees up a spot for Pompey to excel. Revere stays on as the 4th OFer and as insurance encase Pompey can't hack it. Would you do it?
  3. Give you heads a shake boys....Devon Travis's GF is a phenom. I also think Thole needs to be added to the hot list. He looks dreamy in the photo above (albeit the small dog is a turn off).
  4. Oh I'm not delusional - I know we aren't getting Maeda. I'm just saying we offer something that's better than anyone else. Unfortunately, I don't think there's much history of Japanese players prioritizing winning.
  5. No no...that still looks bad. Unless you're an F'ing hipster...
  6. I've never seen someone tuck their eyebrows in their hat before...
  7. We offer the best offence in baseball.....maybe Japanese guys don't buy sabermetrics and he's all about padding his wins???
  8. Don't tell me dress shirts done up all the way (with no tie) and matching beads (and what apprearst o be matching pants) is gonna be a thing in 2016.
  9. Love MikeM. He gets my vote for ROY and best infrequent poster..l
  10. Do I qualify? I do appreciate the partial vote. I have thoroughly enjoyed killing copious amounts of time on here over the past year. Learned a lot.
  11. I think this is true. I think he absolutely hates playing beesbol...
  12. Oh I'm not...the original post said 2 good year and one bad one. They weren't 2 good ones, they were 2 great ones. Is there any possibility the ADHD drugs mean that much to him?
  13. The Red Sox will once they see HamRam there in Spring Training. Good thing he's at winter ball learning the new position....oh wait.
  14. By good you mean great right? 7.0 & 5.6 WAR seasons are more than merely good. Perhaps my sarcastic meter is broken again?
  15. This is hilarious. This photo is from the Smith Brothers Indoor Baseball Facility in the hamlet of New Lowell, Ontario (which is where I still play men's hardball). I actually did the site servicing design for this facility. My 5 year old son is enrolled in their t-ball program and the Owner was setting up for this and telling me all about it last Sunday. I don't think this is exactly what it appears to be. Smith Brothers run the Central Ontario Reds baseball team, which is a Fall/Winter developmental program for youth baseball players. This kid is in the program and if I had to guess, I bet it was them that approached the kid/family about doing a little promo event to raise a bit of money for the team. They're always doing some sort of promo event, including training sessions and dinner gala's with the likes of Mookie Wilson and Devon White. I ran into Devon White earlier this year, which was kinda cool. Obviously if someone has pictures of this guy signing autographs at like 3 other events, then I stand corrected.
  16. Apparently John Hart took this advice
  17. Giles for Velasquez, Oberholtzer and Derek Fisher......young power relievers sure seem to be fetching a lot on the open market these days...
  18. Petit to the Nats
  19. Wow..seems odd to just give up Lawrie for nothing...
  20. So 7 people didn't abandon ship?
  21. They just traded for Castro. That tells you all you need to know about how rich and well-staffed the Yankees organization is.
  22. you could say the same thing about Travis really. Traded for Anthony Gose ffs. Old prospect with a good bat and questionable defense. I don't think anyone is saying he's going to be Robbie Cano, but they've been spending and trading a lot to try and fill that hole when they might have a better option in house.
  23. Refsnyder profiles like Devon Travis a bit...
  24. Gregorius just put up a 3.1 WAR season...that's better than Tulo was last year and surpasses anything Jeter did since 2009. They've already have replaced Jeter - Castro's playing 2nd.
  25. Well they need an OFer now that they gave away Inciarte... Delgado and Rubby would be great targets. I'm also thinking that now is a good time to call Stewart about Archie Bradley.... Dickey & Revere for DLR, Delgado and Bradley....get'r done.
