  1. This is a bit out there - but it seems when you read about hitters making mechanical adjustments - it's to lower their hands and create more loft in their swing (vs. the chop down stuff that was promoted previously). We all know lofted swings hit sinkers better. Are we seeing a trend where hitters are moving to more loft in their swings to counter all the pitchers who are using 2 seamers in lieu of 4 seamers?
  2. until this debate - I guess I never though of the "face of the franchise" simply as the player who the bandwagon/casual fans thinks of when they think of the team (not entirely sure what I thought it was). I hope he helps us win this year, but personally, I can't wait until he's gone. Not sure I've ever hated a star player on the Jays more than Jose. He's like an angry 8 year old stuck in a mans body.
  3. I hope not because Jose is a massive POS. His antics are often cringe worthy (like his defense).
  4. I suspect most bandwagon/causal fans would say Donaldson as often as they would Bautista. Winning the MVP will do that. New topic - who gives a F about the casual fan. Marketing people might, but the day the FO gives 2 shits about what the casual fan (who complains the referee is s***) is the day they should resign.
  5. speaking of the Nats - what is wrong with Bryce? wRC+ of 116. Wilson Ramos with more WAR. Also - is Anthony Rendon going to start hitting again? wRC+ of about 100 over his past 760 PA's. He's a superstar if he get his wRC+ back up to 125-135 (which the minor league numbers suggest he should). Ben Revere has a -0.6 WAR on the year FWIW.
  6. I suspect you're just tired of THANOS, but Happ threw his 2 seamer 5.7% of the time in Pittsburgh (with great success) - about half as much as he was in Seattle and almost 3 times less than he is this year. I suspect the 2S is his 3rd or 4th best pitch and thus there's certainly an argument to reducing it's usage - complete with evidence to support it. The same argument can be made with Stro's cutter and change up. Are they useful pitches when used/thrown properly...but when they are your 4th and 5th best pitch - sometimes less is more (you also have to consider how frequently he can throw them properly and/or if they've found the best sequencing to use them properly). Finally, let's not compare Happ's 2 seamer to Doc's and Webb's please. E: I have no idea what THANOS is talking about with his muscle confusion bit...
  7. insurance encase Thole gets hurt....
  8. Ok this really pisses me off. The biggest change (which is producing significantly better results) appears to be he's gone back to the 4 seamer (and away from the 2 seamer). The real question is - why was he throwing the 2 seamer so much early in the season? I guess there's a chance he starts hanging out with Sanchez and Stro and they are pumping the benefits of the 2 seamer and he decides it's a good idea to change his approach, but I'd have to assume it was influenced by this pitch to contact ******** (that's ruined Stroman) that the organization is promoting. The guy is lights out for 18 starts last year and what do we do? Try and change him and his pitch sequencing. I really hope he's given up on that nonsense and it back to doing to the things that made him amazing in Pittsburgh last year. If he is, he provides significant value to this team. I also hope Stroman's seen the light...
  9. Perhaps my joke was poor. I was trying to say that I have no stamina and thus the chubby porn stars don't tire out before I'm done. Let's move on.
  10. Given my stamina - that's never been an issue.
  11. I love me some chubby porn from time to time....they try harder.
  12. I swear he's Buck's son or something. Most bizarre string of posts I've ever seen on here.
  13. So you wonder if Melvin is male or not?
  14. I guess there's no leaks if you don't read them right?
  15. Pete Walker probably loves how Cashner uses his big time arm to pitch to contact...
  16. Um....moving Sanchez to the bullpen has nothing to do with his results sir. This is a basic concept.
  17. No way. He's learned from the Pillar experiment. Jose is there to stay.
  18. He's been about a 3 WAR player over his last 162 games. A solid player. I do find it interesting his defense has been below average this year. Should we be concerned? He's just slowing down with age I guess?
  19. Craig Kimbrel never started in the minors. He's one of the best relievers of all-time.
  20. Aren't we always hoping for that with Saunders and Jose flanking him?
