  1. For a platoon player who's a FA at the end of the year? No thanks.
  2. Is this Dogg's new account? (sighs)
  3. I think Storen is getting better
  4. Huh? No it's not...or if it was they put up the wrong pie graph
  5. A few things. 1. Happy for Andy Burns 2. I thought Dan Shulman was only doing like 34 games...seems like he's way ahead of that pace. 3. It said Stroman throws 22% fastballs and 36% sliders...that's super wrong isn't it? 4. Did you guys see the dirty mustache on the Jays bat boy?
  6. Did he learn from Brian Wilson in SF?
  7. So are we still firing Jacoby?
  8. We may soon need to start the debate of whether he'll be a HOFer...
  9. C'mon man - there's an unwritten rule that fast guys lead off and your good hitters drive'em in. Buck lives his life solely by following unwritten rules because he grew up in an era when nobody questioned stupidity.
  10. I actually agree with most of this. I've been impressed with his ability to absorb some early struggles and give the team a solid outing. Walks are down, SwStr% is up. He's been as good as any pitcher on the team. It's funny how people were losing their s*** because we didn't sign a #1 and our rotation was going to be s***. Those same people are probably impressed with Happ - even though he isn't really pitching that well yet.
  11. It was my wife's birthday yesterday....I just kept hitting refresh and cursing when the site was down. I'm thinking it was a missed opportunity.
  12. I get all of that man - but it's times like this I must admit I don't 100% buy into the stats suggesting Pillar's been more valuable than Harper to date. O's must be so happy they didn't get Fowler. 2 WAR already.
  13. My problem with Buck and Tabby is they make s*** up all the time. Just stick to the facts and I'm happy. Case in point, last night Beltre swung so hard on a pitch that he went to one knee (which isn't uncommon for Beltre). Buck throws out "I know there aren't any unwritten rules in baseball anymore, but back in the day if someone swung that hard, we'd say - you want to swing that hard, well here you go". 1. I'm fairly sure there's never been an unwritten rule restricting how hard someone swung. 2. I have no f'ing idea what Buck's even suggesting. Is he saying back in the say they would have brush him back or thrown at a batter if he swung that hard? He throws out this utter nonsense 2-3 times a night. That's my issue with him. I honestly don't remember the last game I watched where I didn't shake my head in disgust - and I typically miss half the game.
  14. Huh? I'm talking about how Pillar's been more valuable than Harper to date this year...
  15. That's the type of quote that makes "old school" people question sabermetrics even more...Christ it makes me question it to some extent.
  16. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/aaron-nola-has-baseballs-best-curveball/ Apparently Sanchez has the 5th best curveball in baseball. I never thought I'd write that.
  17. I remember people saying the Yanks were going to get at much out of Headley for as the Red Sox get out of Pablo - at half the cost. They were right - they both suck nutz.
  18. Incorrect. Bourn was coming off a 6.2 WAR season when he signed with the Indians. That's better than Tulo's ever put up. Swisher average 3.9 WAR/year in the 3 years prior to signing with the Indians. Martin averaged 3.7 WAR prior to signing with the Jays. I love math.
  19. I have to admit I often feel this way. My only saving grace is my 5 year old son loves to watch it, so it's no longer killing time - it's bonding Thank god for Jays in 30 too.
  20. Skatkins is very familiar with 2 - Bourn & Swisher. Speaking of which, Bourn and Swisher would be two candidates for players who were on PEDs - landed the big contract and then stopped taking them (risk was no longer worth the reward).
  21. I was going to ask this guy if he could suggest which world renowned hitting guru - who's unemployed - that he thought we should replace Jacoby with. Then I answered my own question. Bobby Tewksbary! Leg kicks for everyone!
  22. It didn't seem to make sense last week - and the "old school" maroons were spouting off about how Goins is the everyday guy and you have to ride your everyday players. Hopefully Gibby has given into the reality that these 2 should be in a strict platoon.
  23. Cool. I'm not sure I buy he makes a tangible difference; however, our base running has been bad this year....fire [insert name of our first base coach]!
  24. Interesting enough - something tells me Dave Stewart would fail as a first base coach.
  25. What constitutes good first base coach skills? Is there some metric that tell us how quick each one yells "back"? The frequency they influence the umpires calls by motioning the runner was safe? First base coach has to be one of the best jobs in the world.
