  1. I suspect it was - but you could also just caulk it up to baseball....Martin's career wRC+ is 107 (essentially where he's at right now). There are a lot of ups and downs during a season. Martin got s*** on because his big slump was in April instead of July - but he's the same as he's ever been really. The concern is his defense hasn't been as strong, which has dragged down his value. The neck injury probably had a big effect on that as well. I love me some Martin. Him and Tulo are so easy to root for as anchors of this team.
  2. That's a massive stretch.
  3. Who gives a f*** about 2023...flags fly forever.
  4. Ang - don't you know a goat who can verify who the teammate was?
  5. My dry humour alludes you...
  6. BABIP of .444 though....so he's had some bad luck in there.
  7. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-ridiculousness-of-aaron-sanchezs-sinker/ sorry if that's been posted yet.....only 3 RH batters have pulled a ball in the air off Sanchez's sinker this year. That's unreal.
  8. Safe to assume Stairs and Walker went undrafted because they were Canadian?
  9. Is this because we have a lot of "guess" hitters?
  10. Um - he's a pro athlete. That's what happened. Seriously though - I thought he was with the girl with the bright red hair (and when I google Jennifer Pena, no girl with red hair shows up).
  11. That there is turrrrible math sir.
  12. In all fairness, the itch may distract you from time to time.
  13. Correct. Most of them were 13...
  14. Of interest, I'm told Tinnish is now involved with international scouting...almost sounds like he's a crosschecker. No longer an office guy.
  15. Kyle Barraclough is the 13th most valuable reliever in baseball with a BB/9 over 6. Kimbrel, Ramos, Duke, Rodney & David Robertson are all high leverage guys with BB/9 over 4. I'm not saying it's amazing - I'm saying it's not uncommon for relievers to get away with poor command. It's easier to hide there (if you have a high K%).
  16. There's no contact on that play because the fielder came flying off the bag because he knew Altuve runs fast and didn't want risk a throw (with the tying run rounding 3rd base). If the fielder does try and hang in there to turn that DP, he get smoked by Rasmus. You can't let the result cloud your view. That same slide could have made a ton of contact with a fielder, possibly causing a major injury.
  17. A lot of pitchers survive in the pen with poor BB/command issues. You can hide I there. DFA Dickey & Thole, sign Kurt Suzuki and bring up Barnes.
  18. Its ironic that in the video you refer to, the runner does slide about 3 feet past the bag...
  19. Goose - is that you? Cal's record is going to fall sooner than later? are you for real? credibility dropping.
  20. um - because both are interference to prevent the fielder from being able to make a defensive play.
  21. Because this is stupid. Base runners should be allowed to try and get to the bag as fast as they can (like they would if they are stealing a base). Their sole intention should not be to interfere with the fielder (which is what the new rule does).
  22. If you don't like it - hit better. Unlike hockey, baseball doesn't need physical contact to be a great game. Why was a runner allowed to interfere with the fielders ability to make a play at 2nd base - but not when the fielder is trying to catch a pop up? It was beyond stupid.
  23. I don't know. I really like some of the changes that have been made. I love the new takeout slide rule (wow did that controversy every disappear quick!!!)
  24. Something is off. His season K% is at 28.1. How was it 40% in the first half and 28% in the second half?
