  1. I clicked on this thread to find out how this trade generated 4 pages. I immediately regret my decision to feed my curiosity.
  2. It eliminates the draft pick compensation - thus making him worth more as a FA next year. Simply put - accepting a trade will put money in his pocket without significantly affecting his opportunity to win this year. I fully expect Jose would be indignant about being asked to waive his 10-5 rights - but he'd also be indignant about being asked to play 1st/DH and I know he'll be indignant when the Jays don't offer him $150M in the offseason because he's an arrogant *******. He's going to be pissed at the Jays at some point here. If I could get Puig - I'd cross that bridge now... I guess this backfires if you piss him off and he refuses to waive his 10-5 rights out of spite....but then again. Jose Bautista plays better when he's angry.
  3. The Dodgers need offense and had a ton of starters....until they all went and got hurt. I still think Jose for Puig is a fit. That might actually hurt our chances this year (although we don't know what Jose post toe injury will look like - and it might look like a lot of Zeke in RF) - but definitely a possibility it's a lateral move and a small chance it's a big upgrade. Regardless, it would certainly help us moving forward.
  4. Because Puig's a headache who's severely underperforming and seemingly hurt a lot. They may want to "win now"
  5. You mean my fellow BJMB friends ripped me off????? F
  6. Why would he? It eliminates the draft pick compensation and they're as much of a playoff team as the Jays are. If I'm the Jays - I'd do this trade - and it's actually something I could see happening...
  7. Well that sucks. Let players play at the highest level. Stupid.
  8. I guess it was SSS, but Lowe was completely different on the Jays. K% dropped from 11.75 to 6.63, GB% went from 36% to 46%, BB% dropped from 2.75 to 0.47, velocity was up a tick, effectiveness was down. Very bizarre. Did Walker tell him to pitch to contact??? Glad we avoiding that ticking time bomb this offseason.
  9. I'm not talking about this 16 year old kid. I'm talking the stud they've been talking about for a few years. I don't remember his name though. He's like 25.
  10. What's the status on that stud Japanese pitcher/hitter...is he coming to the US next year?
  11. SRF certainly looks to have a "flat arm" delivery. Vlad Jr. sure seems to be hitting well for a 17 year old.
  12. Who wastes their time responding to BBBB?
  13. So I notice Cesar Tapia on the list....says he plays for Mexican (AAA). I click on the team and it's full of failed ex. major league players (Daric Barton, Nyjer Morgan, Willy Taveras, Carlos Quentin, Ruben Rivera, Wil Ledezma, Chad Gaudin, etc.). Heck they have 2 players over 40 on the team. Can someone smart explain this to me? Do the ML AAA teams simply play this Mexican AAA team?
  14. If Harris put up these numbers last year - would we be happy that our first round pick is performing as expected? I'd certainly like to see him get a taste of AA by the end of this year.
  15. Couple of notes/questions: 1. Is Barreto's brother in our system? 2. Max Pentecost is hitting well this year. I guess he's old for the league, but still encouraging. I see he's DH'ing. Has he caught at all and/or will he ever catch again? 3. Jon Harris is having a very strong season. Anything to see here?
  16. A trade piece...good one.
  17. Is everyone as happy as me to see the new slide rule is no longer discussed or an issue? That took what - 6 weeks for players to adjust and for it not be an issue anymore? They should do a follow up interview with Goose Gossage and point out that he's a F'ing moron.
  18. I was hoping they'd improve at 1B this year...
  19. ^this. This board isn't for basics or casual fans - and that's what I like about it. I don't have to sift though posts about how we should trade Jose or EE for CC Sabathia (first trade suggestion by a caller on Blairs show today...last call I listened to). I'm fairly new and never had a problem here. I love it the way it is.
  20. Do you want me to start giving you examples of big name FA's that signed high price contracts in the early to mid 30's only to turn into a pumpkin almost immediately??? Pujols, Fielder, Hamilton, Jason Bay, Mo Vaughn, A.Jones, Upton... EE and Jose come with massive risk. That's reality.
  21. I think there's a decent chance Reddick is more valuable than Jose next year. The point might be that there are ways to re-tool and remain competitive without having to take the risk that a 36 year old remains productive for 3 more years. The biggest thing with EE and Jose is there's a chance their contracts become negatives in a HURRY. You have to weigh that risk/reward.
  22. I could see us morphing into a team built around pitching and defense instead of offense in a hurry...that's kind of what Cleveland is right now To play devils advocate - while I think Reddick and B.Moss would be very solid additions and I generally agree that with some shrewd moves, we do not need to rebuild at all - you have to remember there's a very strong possibility those "good fits" don't want to play or sign here.
  23. Didn't Baltimore give up a pick to sign Gallardo this year?
  24. I have no idea why you think there's only a 1% chance a team offers him a 2 year $20M deal. I do doubt teams want to or will give up a comp pick for him, but the first statement is simply bizarre.
  25. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/mlb/3803/jose-bautista Interesting.
