  1. How many punches like that have you seen on the ML diamond over the past 100 years? suggesting Jose should have been ready for it is a little off IMO.
  2. what's ironic is the Rangers broke the unwritten rules by waiting until Jose's last at bat this season v. the Rangers to plunk him. On one hand I hate unwritten rules...on the other, this seems cowardly.
  3. I'm kind of thinking Odor was going to do something regardless of what Jose did. He's a puke.
  4. Matt Bush is the scum of the earth. I'd have anger issues too if I took it up the ass in jail for 3 years after almost killing someone because I'm some loco idiot.
  5. Ironically....last year that slide would have been applauded and called a great baseball play...
  6. so I want to take my son to the jays game on the 28th v. the red sox. is the best (errr only legit) place to buy tickets on Stubhub?
  7. Well they are the same age and Trout was 34.8% "better" than Bryant was last year in terms of WAR - and has "proven" he can make the necessary adjustments to remain amazing even after the league adjusts to his weaknesses...
  8. jesus - I'm just throwing s*** out there. Is Betts/Bogaerts really that much worse than Bryant/Russell? I mean adding in Benintendi would even that out quite a bit I think.
  9. Because Trout may be the best player of all time...
  10. 4 more years of s*** with this Ownership/FO. Seriously - Dave Stewart might be an upgrade for them...
  11. DaFaq? You're going to make MLB change the collective bargaining agreement to execute this trade? interesting.
  12. Don't you think the Jays did a physical on him before signing him?
  13. I'm not sure I buy that. I think it would be a lot more clear if they defined what "a complete stop" is. Peavy looks like he stops completely for about a millisecond. If they simply said pitchers must stop for 1 full second, it would take out a lot of the grey area. With respect to pitchers changing their delivery to deceive the batter...that's an interesting one. Pitchers have been mixing a full leg kick with a slide step for years. That does 2 things...affects the runners and can alter the timing of the batter. If you're going to try and eliminate the Cueto - you'll have to eliminate all slide steps (or at least pitching switching from a full leg kick to a slide step). I say the batters needs to be ready...
  14. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/josh-donaldson-has-gone-full-edwin-encarnacion/ perhaps just SSS?
  15. He's using his curve & change about 25% of the time (combined). That isn't all that bad...
  16. Thor should pitch to contact more - he's hasn't been able to get into the 7th inning in his past 2 starts.
  17. He's been .211 to .240 avg, .311 to . 329 OBP in 4 of the past 5 years....that's the hitter he is...not the guy you saw in Pitts in 2014.
  18. I'll take your word that a wRC+ of 86 is above average for a LHH vs. LHP...although I must say that is a little mind blowing. I guess they typically crush RHP, but that stat is one of the reasons I never got the infatuation with having LH/RH balance in a lineup....So many LHH are relegate to being a Ryan Goins type hitter late in games - even by underwhelming LOOGY's. Personally - I prefer to look at the past 2-3 years when evaluating players because, well, players make adjustments. It's like looking at Russell Martin's career average and expecting him to hit .255 this year.....not going to happen.
  19. Call this the TSN turning point in the season....Shatkins making things happen!
  20. I just sorted wRC+ for LH hitters v. LHP between 2014 & 2016 with at least 250 plate appearances. Reddick's wRC+ of 65 is 48th of 57. That isn't above average sir. Think of it this way....when Reddick faces LHP, he's as productive as Ryan Goins vs. RHP...
  21. What's your point? Are we paying those guys $15M a year? They're just JAGs that fill out our roster. I'm simply against making someone a high priced, key FA signing when their so easily neutralized late in games.
  22. He's talking about trading for him right now....hence my comment.
  23. Listen - I don't hate Reddick at all, but am I the only one who doesn't want to pay this guy $15M a year (+/-) when he's an absolute ZERO vs. LHP and thus has to be pinch hit for late in every close game? It's almost forces you to have a right handed lefty masher as your 4th OFer. wRC+ of 56 vs. LHP in 2014, wRC+ of 83 vs. LHP in 2015 and a wRC+ of 4 this year so far. There is some list calling him the least clutch player in baseball....I don't necessarily buy into clutch hitting, but I think the fact he gets LOOGY'd to death late in close games is an easy explanation why he's at the top of that list.
  24. That's nice. What happens if he doesn't want to play here? BTW - Reddick's not that strong defensively himself....you're going to stick him in the OF right now and move Jose or Saunders to DH and EE to 1st with Smoak on the bench?
