  1. Didn't you try stirring this s*** pot up a few months ago without success?
  2. That was funny of King...
  3. Peak Pena was really good...I'd take that!
  4. What's wrong with that???
  5. Tellez is listed at 6'4, 220 lbs. I realise those are often wrong, but Schwarber is listed at 6'0 235 lbs and I don't hear many complaining about how fat he is.
  6. They have Puig 17th in MLB. Can we please trade for him already?
  7. It will be interesting to see if his new diet can somewhat eliminate the "bad body" rep. Seems like one of the easiest flaws a prospect could eliminate.
  8. Can someone explain the difference between "Pitch Type" and "Pitch f/x Pitch Type" on fangraphs? I assume it's just 2 different ways of recording the pitch type? I was just looking in on Jerry Blevins again (as I as going to point how a sign Jose & Blevins + trade for Dyson would be a nice way to finish the offseason) and I see under "Pitch Type" it says he only throws a fastball, curveball and change - but under "Pitch f/x Pitch Type" it suggests he throws a slider 10% of the time. I see the slider velocity is only a couple MPH lower than his fastball - is it just getting grouped in with his fastball on "Pitch Type"?
  9. If you're going to exclude his rough start (wRC+ of 84 in Mar/Apr), then you should also remove his "peak" month in June (wRC+ of 208). We've known his contact rates have been dropping for years now. Far point that a decline in Pearce's bat should also be considered.
  10. I think you grossly underestimate how many average fans there are. Those who read/post on here who have some advanced knowledge of baseball are a very small % of the fan base. I think most fans DO have a serious issue with the moves so far. I suspect upwards of 70% of fans have no idea who Steve Pearce is - and if they do, they think he suxxxx.
  11. Oh I don't disagree one bit, but lets not forget Pearce was more valuable in only 383 PA's in 2014 than EE was in any single season of his career. Last year his wRC+ essentially matched EE's, while his BsR and DEF were all better than EE's. It's a MASSIVE 'if', but if you can get 600 PA's out of him, there's a real chance he's as valuable as EE is in 2017. There is a pile of risk involved in relying on that to happen this year, but if the $ we saved on EE is used to fill other holes and add depth to this team, there will be a point where I think it's worth it.
  12. Pedroia seems like a decent candidate to rapidly decline like so many 2nd basemen do in their early to mid 30's. He's been a warrior - beat up so much throughout his career...He's a great player, but you have to start wondering how much longer can he do it...
  13. I'm amazed at how bad of a base runner Pedroia's become. Is the "Travis" listed Sam Travis? Is that who we're talking about?
  14. It's funny how people forget Pearce's wRC+ was the same as EE's last year.
  15. Neither will the charity money... Losing everything in a house fire is an incredible horrible thing - no matter how much money you have. Nobody is debating that...it's whether a pro athletes should be looking for charity $.
  16. We'll that's releasing.
  17. I'm having a pooh. My son just ran up and said Jose is signing with Texas. Is he full of s***? Surely I'm not breaking this story from the john
  18. This new 'thing' you guys are doing pisses me off. Just sayin'
  19. I don't know - but I enjoyed the read
  20. Pretty sure the distance from RF to home is the same as the distance from LF to home (except in fenway)... How many throws to 3rd does a RF unleash a year?
  21. Don't we think guys like Michael Saunders are oblivious to how s***** they are defensively?
  22. I'm with you Term. Never thought about it that way but it makes sense. Strongest arm in RF was the strategy for years. I wonder if your better to put the better defender in LF regardless of arm strength. Now many times do you get to make the throw to 3rd anyway
  23. Did you miss when the FO jumped to sign Morales and Pearce? (For which the media and some fans are grilling them for) It's also evident they went hard after Fowler
