  1. I could point out the Smoak extension and completely derail your point.....but I still disagree with your overall premise as it is.
  2. If the comp pick is valued at $10M, then full market value for Jose is probably 2 years $30M (assuming he could give us 4.5 WAR in 2 years). I'd probably do that....as long as the "other" OF we get is strong defensively (Dyson or Puig please)
  3. Pillar can't hit either and he provides a ton of value to this team. There's a chance if given 550 PA's that Pompey could provide as much value as Revere or Dyson could (2 names often mentioned as options).
  4. Like the Angels...
  5. Would Osuna fetch Conforto?
  6. Valbuena in a platoon at 1st with Pearce with Pearce platooning with Upton in LF (Pearce plays vs. RHP) would probably be very effective and provide a significant amount of versatility to the team. Ideally you'd pair that with a RF who's above average defensively. Christ that would have paired well with Fowler playing RF. Puig & Dyson would both be good fits in that scenario now.
  7. Shatkins already wisely stated they would not offer player options or opt outs.
  8. You stick him at 1st and let Pearce play the OF...
  9. Excellent job slamming home my impeccable setup...
  10. how many times have we seen once elite, but now 37 year old players coming off a poor year simply continue to decline before retiring?
  11. Just think - we can collect 2 comp picks for Jose and EE (valued at $20M) and sign Valbuena to a 2 year $18M deal...it's like getting him for free - and he was significantly better than Jose last year. It's a win-win.

  13. My phone just said the Jays are unwilling to give Jose a multi-year deal.
  14. No it's not. The top 10 picks are protected. Those teams would surrender their next highest pick. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/10/explaining-the-qualifying-offer-system.html Rockies surrendered the 11th overall pick to sign Ian Desmond. They are dumb.
  15. gezz - I wonder why.
  16. There's absolutely no reason to give him the 3rd year anymore. Turner just signed for $16M and he's a far superior player. 2 years $30M is about as high as we should go for Jose. Nobody else in baseball is going to give him that much + a draft pick. He has no options left. His arrogance backfired immensely.
  17. You mean the Jose Baustisa who posted 1.4 WAR in 517 PA's last year and the Luis Valbuena who posted 2.0 WAR in 342 PA's?
  18. Half the fans think Jose is still good defensively with his rocket arm in RF (see Rogers commercial with him throwing 92). Let's cater to what the fans want...said no good GM ever.
  19. Jesus - don't get Wok going...
  20. I think that's a bit of a misconception about Gibby. If true, he would have stuck with Pillar, or moved Upton there when acquired.
  21. The entire post was needless pessimism. It's December 12th.
  22. always such a smartass Box.
  23. Oh right - just my dumb friends. Good point.
  24. Daily fantasy sports is dead? I got an e-mail from Fanduels asking me to send personal information to them and blah blah blah, couldn't be bothered and donated the 20 odd dollars I still had on the site to them.
  25. Apparently nobody wants your money Term. I came here to ask the same question.
