  1. Someone just said Houston was the most profitable franchise in the league the year they had a $22M payroll and 110 loses.
  2. very fair argument - although I don't agree with the last line. Blowing it up - if done right with this FO, could lead to sustainable success....in fact, it could accelerate the sustainable success. It's hard not to look at what the Yankees did last year, adding Frazier and G.Torres and not salivate at the core of young talent they have amassed. There is plenty to gain by blowing it up (if done right) - although that may come with some short term pain.
  3. They are all my favourite. I watch 2 episodes on channel 39 almost every night.
  4. That's awesome. And now, due to their commitment to sucking (while rolling in the profit), they are in line for sustained success that will generate copious amounts of playoff revenue and possibly a World Series win. It would appear as though someone has it all figured out.
  5. Correction. What this team needs is a rebuild.
  6. I would render a guess that most hitters struggle when facing fastballs and sliders with more movement than normal. wRC+ is park adjusted (I believe) and he put up a lot of seasons between 130 and 170 while in Colorado - although that's not to say the confidence/success he had there didn't help his overall numbers.
  7. Remember when people were hoping the Jays could pry Austin Barnes away from LA? He's been a stud this year. 1.2 WAR in 44 games (122 PA's). 148 wRC+ Him an Grandal are killing it for the Dodgers as a tandem.
  8. Is his Contract really that bad? He's on pace for 2.6 WAR this year, which would provide surplus value at $20M/year. You can speculate what he'll provide in 2018 and 2019, but he's certainly not a black hole - especially if a playoff team needs a catcher.
  9. I like the cut of your jib.
  10. Can we trade Jose for Profar now? I guess not b/c of the Texas BS. Too bad.
  11. You mean like trading G.Torres for a 1/2 year rental reliever?
  12. Blue Jays prospect Jon Harris threw seven shutout innings on Wednesday for Double-A New Hampshire. Harris gave up three hits, didn't walk anyone and struck out four. It's nice to see him pitch well, as he's struggled for most of the 2017 season (5.53 ERA). Despite having two above-average pitches and two average offerings, he's really struggled to miss bats this year, and the command has lagged at times, as well. The talent is here, but he's going to have to show more starts like this one before you can believe he's even close to being ready to join the Toronto rotation. That's actually one of the first times I read someone suggest that Jon Harris has talent and/or any above average pitches (let alone 2 with 2 more average ones).
  13. I found it interesting that they rank Tatis Jr. above Bo despite the fact that Bo is severely outperforming him in A ball. Tatis is like 8 months younger, but still.
  14. I honestly have no idea what you're talking about; nor do I have any idea of who the "cool" group is. I do randomly throw sarcastic comments out though - which apparently you've decided are commonly directed towards a certain type and have decided to consistently attack me for it. That's cool.
  15. Lets use Pujols as an example then. Former MVP, future HOF....ahhhh wait a minute.... Josh Hamilton. Former MVP....ahhh wait a minute Prince Fielder. Former MVP candidate....ahhh s***.
  16. It should be. In what world is the best player not that most valuable to his team?
  17. He has to be significantly better with the bat if he's to overcome the utter zero's he proves defensively and on the bases.
  18. That is correct. He was an MVP. There's a very very slim chance he ever approaches that again. You'd be signing a depreciating asset....which, I mean, isn't a terrible thing - but only if you do it at the right price...and it's extremely unlikely you could sign him based on what he'll be (as someone will overpay).
  19. Morales has been s***. We hoped we were getting a run producing power hitter who put the ball in play. His BB% is down, K% up, wRC+ of 100. Barf.
  20. Isn't the average age artificially increased by s*****, non-prospects? Any real prospect who's 20 or 21 shouldn't be in short-season ball very long at all. I'm with Krylian on this one.
  21. Oh f*** off L54 - riding my ass daily on here. He signed ZERO autographs before the game (that he didn't start) and there were only like 5 kids standing at the fence. In fact, every Philly player on the field walked past these 5 kids. Tommy Joseph was the only one to come over and gave the kids some baseballs. Maybe Crawford likes Daddy's instead. Who knew.
  22. You have to deal JD, Osuna, Sanchez (or a combination of them) + move Liriano, Happ, Smith, Estrada, Jose, etc. if you're really going to re-tool. The later half won't get you s***.
