  1. Wow. Matt Adams looks like a different person.
  2. In all likelihood - we'll be luck if 1-2 are impact players and if 4-5 have legit MLB careers.
  3. I don't know if judging based on what they did in Cleveland is a good assumption. Different ownership, different payroll.
  4. Fify.
  5. I think you're overplaying the past. Steamers projects JD as a 5.2 WAR player this year and we can only assume it will continue to decrease in 2018 and beyond. If you're signing him to a $200M player, you're paying for his decline and "building" around a depreciating asset, who, moving forward, may not be the superstar he once was. That's what the Angels did went they signed Pujols and Hamilton.
  6. The Mets system is pretty bonerific...
  7. There were also fewer teams in the league "back in the day". As it was pointed out - the team will need to play some remarkable ball over the next 6 months to make the playoffs....all while missing their best player for what could be a month - maybe more. Add in the uncertainty of Sanchez and Happ - coupled with little to no SP'ing depth in the minors and it's going to be a daunting task. With JD probably leaving after 2018 - these are legitimate discussions to have as a fanbase.
  8. I think what some are saying is that window is closing fast. 2017 is all but a waste right now and that only leave us with 2018 before JD is gonzo.
  9. Holy s*** - like always, you're missing the point.
  10. Key point in bold. I mean obviously there's a chance the Jays right the ship - but it's extremely slim right now - probably even slimmer when we find out later today that Happ needs TJS. It would be extremely short sighted to make decisions based on the fact one team recently started this bad and 'almost' made the playoffs. These are real (and difficult) decisions the FO is soon going to have to make.
  11. That would be the point. If you can get a haul for a 3 WAR CFer during a rebuild - you trade him before his legs/defense start to decline. If you're rebuilding - you don't care if it makes the ML team worse.
  12. Woodman deserves honorable mention for Kings Platinum Arencibia...
  13. But no team has ever made the playoffs from this position. I mean you can hope for a miracle, but reality suggests the window has closed and with so much uncertainty moving forward, these are legitimate discussions to have. Plus they are fun.
  14. If we go into a rebuild - I'd trade Sanchez in a heartbeat. Pillar too.
  15. Emotionally unstable! that's it Grant. I always wondered what was wrong with me. Thanks buddy!
  16. I don't give a f*** about the O's. Good god let's set the bar higher.
  17. I agree. The yanks are going to be really good again really soon. Who's to say they won't resign pineda and/or tanaka?
  18. Good God. Feels like Yadi cock is being shoved down my throat right now. Gag
  19. If you wanna see a brutal review - check out the Aaron Judge HR they just blew
  20. So I'm living at my parents as we reno our main level. Just found out my neighbour was drafted by the Jays the same year as Doc. He was Doc's roommate and was college roommates with Eric Gagne. I might have to have a few more beers with him!
  21. It's so depressing when you invest so much time as a fan and the season is essentially over already. I have absolutely no reason to tune in anymore. I mean if there were some good young players to watch develop, grow, etc. but there is nothing of that to be seen unless Tellez is called up. I'll need to find a new escape from real life. I'm gonna have to gut this season out as my 6 year old son won't care that it's all for not and I certainly don't want to ruin it for him. It's a sad reality. Everyone is going to have to find their own way to make the best out of it.
  22. But Buck and Tabby said the Jays hitters would know about it today so it would be a good day for them. Oh wait.
  23. Calling Martin "great" is a bit of a stretch....its a rather large stretch really.
