Jesus - I really botched that up didn't I? I was using 2016 - had the innings wrong. 10 more innings, but double the WAR, despite having a high FIP and much higher xFIP. I always thought WAR used park adjusted values? Maybe I should read up on it a bit better (or give up)

Wow - I actually thought he was a stud when healthy. The lie detector (Fangraphs) confirmed that was a lie. Can someone briefly explain how in 2014, Box posted a 2.84 FIP and a 1.95 xFIP over 64 2/3 innings, but only registered a 0.9 WAR, but in 2015, Osuna posted a 3.20 FIP and 3.60 xFIP over 74 innings, but posted a 1.8 WAR?

Johnson's 1 year removed from a 1.4 WAR season. Everything looked the same last year except some bad HR/FB luck and some lost control. You might also get a quality reliever for $4.5M

You have to ask yourself how likely it is that he's a 3 win player. He's reached that level once in his career. Last year, at age 32. He's a career 90 wRC+ hitter.

Does anyone believe this actually happens? Do we have any reason to believe a FO makes a conscious decision to trade or sign a guy simply to appease the casual fan?

FFS - I just ate guys. Seriously. He's a below average hitter, base runner and defender. He barely deserves to make a team - let alone be a starter. The only way this makes sense is if a prospect is packaged with him for salary relief.

Is Seattle considered a favourite simply because they signed Ichiro way back when? I realise the west coast is closer to Japan, but I have to think that's a moot point, given there are many teams on the west coast with the same advantage. Do Japanese people prefer rain or something?

I'd love to see use get Hunter and Smith. Shaw's had a pile of innings/appearances. I don't hate the idea of him, but Hunter and his new cutter is comparable and probably comes at half the cost.

Grant Dayton signed with the Braves. He was amazing in 22016, but not so good last year. I don't know if he's damaged goods. It I would have liked to see the Jays grab him given how awful our loogys are.

I find it increasingly hard to enjoy an NFL or NBA game. Maybe I'm just getting old. To be honest, I rarely get engaged in a MLB game (I mean pitch after pitch for 9 innings) unless it's the playoffs. Baseball is just the perfect sport to have playing the in background as I do all my adult stuff.

It's f***ing embarrassing both that the Padres offered to pay him - and that Winfield accepted. Changing the rule based on one ******* is not a wise way to run an organization. People need some f***ing morals.
