Lets use Pujols as an example then. Former MVP, future HOF....ahhhh wait a minute....
Josh Hamilton. Former MVP....ahhh wait a minute
Prince Fielder. Former MVP candidate....ahhh s***.
That is correct. He was an MVP. There's a very very slim chance he ever approaches that again. You'd be signing a depreciating asset....which, I mean, isn't a terrible thing - but only if you do it at the right price...and it's extremely unlikely you could sign him based on what he'll be (as someone will overpay).
Isn't the average age artificially increased by s*****, non-prospects? Any real prospect who's 20 or 21 shouldn't be in short-season ball very long at all. I'm with Krylian on this one.
Oh f*** off L54 - riding my ass daily on here. He signed ZERO autographs before the game (that he didn't start) and there were only like 5 kids standing at the fence. In fact, every Philly player on the field walked past these 5 kids. Tommy Joseph was the only one to come over and gave the kids some baseballs.
Maybe Crawford likes Daddy's instead. Who knew.
You have to deal JD, Osuna, Sanchez (or a combination of them) + move Liriano, Happ, Smith, Estrada, Jose, etc. if you're really going to re-tool. The later half won't get you s***.
Screw you L54 - that's hurtful. My option is legit. If you're going to various ball diamonds and want a collectible, don't go with a t-shirt (unless you plan on hanging these or mounting them...in which case - get jerseys because this makes you look cheap). I'm going on a Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincy trip in early August and thus am also considering what souvenirs to get.
There should be 3 first basemen in the AL All-Star team. Morrison, Smoak and Alonso (as f***ing crazy as that sounds). Nobody else is even close; however, I expect a f***bag like Hosmer is on it? (I haven't looked) + probably Miggy because he's old.
Good - that prick stiffed me 6 year old son who wanted his autograph this spring. Karma bitch.
That said - BB/K ratio is still excellent. As is the defense I suspect.
Same - and that's my point. Buck was talking about how you used to be able to fray the laces and how infielders would wink at the pitcher when the ball had some imperfection on it. He was even talking about a day when they could rub up the leather and wrinkle it.
I'm thinking to myself - for the love of god - someone stop Buck and tell him we're talking about changes to the ball between 2015 and 2017....not 1972 and 2017. Bobcat asks him a legit question and he goes off about s*** from 40 years ago. That said, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
Didn't you guys hear Buck on Bobcat's show last night? He said clearly there is a change because these days, as soon as a ball hits the dirt, the catcher gives it to the ump without being asked and a new one is put in play. He said pitchers can't doctor up the ball like they use to be able to (said they would fray the laces, etc.).
Apparently he thought the global debate was whether the ball is different today than it was in 1979.
