  1. He's obviously had a better track record than Garcia - but most of the value he's had previously was based on good base running and defense - both of which dropped of significantly last year. He was a league average bat until the outburst last year. I'm just saying there's still a lot of risk if last year was an outliner offensively. My point started with the suggesting that we'd have to give up Vlad Jr. to get him.....keep that one in mind. I agree he's a great get at the right price, but that price doesn't include Vlad, Bo or Alford IMO. Too much risk that 2015 and 2016 (avg WAR < 2.0) are true reflections of his talent.
  2. And trading for Schimpf has absolutely nothing to do with that.
  3. http://money.cnn.com/2017/12/12/media/nfl-network-sexual-harassment-marshall-faulk-warren-sapp/index.html There go the former NFL stars...who's next? I love the part where Warren Sapp sent the wardrobe stylist sex toys for Christmas - 3 years in a row.
  4. They traded for a guy who hit .158 last year and thus must be moving their franchise player? Did the trade of Gift Ngoepe also suggest the Jays were traded JD?
  5. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/carlos-beltran-was-everything-a-player-could-be/ Good article on Carlos Beltran. I enjoyed the read and really enjoyed watching Beltran throughout his career. He's a HOFer in my books.
  6. f*** that s***. I already have enough pent up rage for Ontario Teachers. I don't need them ruining our baseball team too.
  7. Funny thing is - if we got Ozuna with Prado at some decent price that didn't sacrifice the future (b/c the Marlins truly are desperate to dump $$) and then added another SP (say Lance Lynn) + a reliever (maybe a lefty - McGee) and got a but of luck health wise - we probably could compete next year. 2nd - Travis 3rd - JD 1st - Smoak RF - Ozuna DH - Morales C - Martin SS - Tulo LF - Teoscar CF - Pillar B - Prado, Diaz Stro, Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Lynn with Osuna, McGee, Barnes, Tepera, etc. in the pen That's not a bad team at all. I'm not saying that's what they should do, or that they wouldn't have to sell wayyyy too much to get Ozuna, but a good GM isn't going to simply shut the door on the possibility that this team could compete next year.
  8. Jesus man - don't jump off the deep end. You have no idea what Shatkins did or didn't do. They probably just called about him - which is their job. Don't get all judgy judgy.
  9. What? really? For me - Ozuna is a slightly better version of Avisail Garcia. He was a league average hitter until the breakout last year and his base running and defense is only going to get worse. Like Garcia - I have to think FO's will see through that and he won't fetch a massive package.
  10. The O's were obviously impressed by the Mark Trumbo colouring book they received last year - so there's always hope. Maybe Boras added some pop-ups this year - everyone loves pop-ups!
  11. Remember when Ellsbury was the best player in baseball in 2011? The good ole days. It's too bad he plays for the Yanks - as he'd be a decent fit for the Jays if the Yanks would eat 40%+ of his contract. I'd take him at 3 years, $13.66M AAV.
  12. Wat? All I'm saying is they got 3 highly regarded prospects for Doc. Are prospects a risk and do they bust often? Of course, but we got some value for Doc (FWIW - TDA jumped to #36 overall in 2011). If you're simply going to look at the results of that trade and claim they got zero for him - and - based on that, claim we won't get anything for JD - then I'll disengage in his conversation because you're a putz.
  13. You mean the 25th, 29th (Wallace was the 27th) & 81st prospects in baseball? (per BA 2010 rankings)
  14. I bet you love the Yankees facial hair policy too eh? I mean what is with people and those stupid beards! They look ridiculous and embarrass the company.
  15. Because Donaldson is good at beisbol. Like really good.
  16. You forgot Brett Gardner. Ellsbury is the 4th OFer...
  17. Meh to both then. I guess Reyes is the key to the deal, but guys like Gyroko and Grichuk are just so meh. Such low upside guys.
  18. I knew one of them had a lot of hard contact. I don't think you're fixing that K/BB ratio man. He's like Javy Baez with the stick.
  19. Would we be better off with Stephen Piscotty than Grichuk? Grichuk's proven over the past 900 PA's that he's a below average hitter with massive K's and no walks. He never really even hit in the minors. I mean he runs better than Piscotty, and has better D, but Piscotty until last year, it looked like Piscotty can actually hit (wasn't he hurt a bit last year?). Piscotty is also locked up to 2022 at a reasonable price. Am I missing something? (I'm probably missing something). I have negative interest in Grichuk. I'd rather have a lottery ticket.
  20. Is this reincarnation of Cleveland Steamer / RealAccountant?
  21. Trammell and Robbie Alomar also had similar careers.
  22. Why the f*** would they elect Jack Morris to the HOF?
  23. f*** I hate this. Jeter is a 4% bobblehead. He has nothing to do with anything.
