  1. Just realised KK rated negatively defensively this year. That's crazy.
  2. OBP was sub .300 last season too (106 wRC+). He's s***.
  3. It all depends on what you can get for him now & how much you believe in him. Unfortunately, not many contending teams need a first baseman right now and there's the risk that if he reverts back to the old Smoak in the 2nd half or early next year - you get nothing for him. I fully expect Shatkins is out there seeing what the market is for him and weighing those risks. You may even find a non-contending team that believes in his improvements willing to pony up due to his dirt cheap contract for the next 2 years.
  4. I think you have to try and trade Smoak. He's under control for 2 more years for next to nothing, which should add value to the return. I really hope his breakout is for real and he continues to tear it up, but given the Jays position, I'd let someone else find out if they are willing to give up a quality prospect.
  5. Mets designated RHP Neil Ramirez for assignment. Ramirez has allowed 30 runs -- 25 earned -- in 31 1/3 innings of relief this season at the major league level. Josh Smoker was activated Thursday in a corresponding roster move. Former Jay. Looks like we didn't miss out on much.
  6. That would be pretty awesome to pull up a seat beside the 3 dads.
  7. No offense, but that's probably because you know very little about baseball. There are many very intelligent people in the game of baseball and on this board. The numbers suggest Martin's provided about $25M of surplus value to date (excluding any additional framing value). Feel free to continue posting IMHO stuff, but realise that ignorant opinion may be subject to ridicule. Also - using the word retard is not really socially acceptable anymore.
  8. Just f***ing amputate it man. Christ.
  9. Sorry sir, but I think you just went full retard.
  10. He just turned 17 three months ago too.
  11. 35% GB rate 0.9 HR/FB Wowsers. That isn't sustainable. Still - it does look like he's ready for a new challenge.
  12. There is a lot more talent in bullpens now than ever before. The need for starters to "go deep" is not as necessary for success as it was in 10-20 years ago. The moto always used to be "work the starter and get him out early so you can prey on the bullpen". Look at the yankees now. You want to knock CC out early so you can face: Green Kahnle Robertson Betances Chapman I don't think so. In some cases, you no longer need a starter to get through a lineup 3 times - especially when the stats suggest the starters effectiveness the 3rd time through significantly drops.
  13. Dalton Pompey (concussion, leg) has been pulled off his minor league rehab assignment. Pompey batted .143/.172/.250 in eight rehab games between High-A Dunedin and Triple-A Buffalo just before the MLB All-Star break. He hasn't played anywhere in the last 10 days, and there is no clear timetable for his return to live action. The 24-year-old outfielder has been on the major league disabled list all season after suffering a serious head injury in the 2017 World Baseball Classic. 14. He never came off it. He was rehabbing in the minors and they just shut him down and transferred him to the 60.
  15. Remember at the start of the year we talked about him being above average out there? lies!
  16. Interesting. He probably looks at Mike Leake signing a $80M/5 year deal and says - yes please.

  19. "Matz (not throwing the Warthen slider so he can make some money)" Is his slider considered one of the factors for the injuries to Thor, Matz, deGrom, Harvey, etc.?
  20. Meh - I'd prefer the stats and records stay with the City. There's no way the Arizona Coyotes should be using historical records and stats by Teammu Selanne and Dale Hawerchuk, while the current Winnipeg team uses historical stats from the old Thrasher teams.
  21. and former 6th overall pick, Colin Moran to call up - who's had a great year in AAA.
  22. Unfortunately, he's the type of guy who probably won't net us anything in return because he has no name recognition. Good for Danny though, he's had a great year for us.
