    It's just a depth thing. People are calling for Grichuk to be DFA'd too - but injuries happen and you need to be prepared. As the Dr. says though, if nobody is going to take Morales's contract, then he probably remains a depth piece in AAA.

    I suspect this is the move. But there's no need to DFA Morales today. If Smoak blows out his knee tomorrow or JD has a setback and requires season ending surgery, then we'll probably need Morales (although if a or b happen, we're probably f***ed either way).

    You never saw the 6'5 240 lbs pitcher with 4 pitches as a starter? You sound like someone who's desperate to tell everyone "I told you so" so they think you're smart. Joe actually wasn't that good in relief last year either. Although I'm sure you'd be the first to tell us that's because the Jays stretched him out and that ruined him. Teams need starting pitching depth. That's what Joe is.

    You start Morales when the pitcher doesn't even throw a breaking ball. Same with Diaz.

    McGuire and Warmouth are starting to hit.

    Gurriel posted a wRC+ of 17 so far this year. Diaz isn't hitting, but neither is Gurriel. I guess Gibby could play Solarte at SS a bit (when Estrada and Happ are starting?), but he doesn't really have good options at SS right now.

    meh - you're probably right. I just see no need to make s*** up and speech with such conviction about it when there's factual things he could talk about (if he wasn't a dinosaur). I guess the general public likes that kinda stuff. "Oh - isn't that interesting. A pitcher and a catcher are talking about how to get hitters out in the dugout. What a great young leader that Vasquez guy is because he's doing his job. I'm entertained."

    Did anyone catch Buck talking about an interaction between Vasquez and Matt Barnes in the dugout? Buck goes on about how Vasquez approached Barnes between innings to discuss the hitters he'd be facing the next inning and what approach they would use to get them out. Then he proclaimed Boston has a good one in Vasquez because he's such a leader. I think this is my biggest pet pev about Buck. He's done this kind of thing throughout his years in the booth. He has absolutely no f***ing idea what they are talking about in the dugout. They might have been talking about the whore they tagged last night or the steakhouse they're going to for dinner after the game. Why make s*** up and then spout it off to the viewing audience? I guess people like stories (whether they are true or not). Personally, I prefer when broadcasters stick to the facts and don't skew fans perceptions.

    I'm a little surprised Smith doesn't get a bit more hype. If he keeps that K% down below 20%, he could fly up our rankings. I didn't realise his defense was that good.
