Would it kill anyone on the pre-game show to talk about:
1. How teams typically need 8-10 starters to get through the season? They talk about how Garcia is a sneaky good late signing as the Jays used 2 or 3 starters in the 5th spot last year. FFS - just explain that teams need lots of starting pitching depth (it's not just the 5th spot in the rotation) and how they've done that by signing Garcia, stretching out Biagini in AAA, advancing Borucki, signing Deck McGuire, acquiring Guerrieri + Gaviglio, etc.
2. Talk about how the "fly ball revolution" is also geared at lifting the ball low in the zone (or sinking pitches) - the Ted Williams approach. They just go on about how Garcia has to keep the ball low to keep it in the park. This isn't 2011.
Educate the casual please. These aren't crazy sabermetic matters.
