  1. Isn't he a party animal? Probably heavy into the drugs and whores.
  2. That was me. I guess I better dumb down my tongue and cheek comments. Great young core though, with a great farm system.
  3. Ichiro .gifs https://imgur.com/gallery/UQqYlX4
  4. The Braves look like they are positioned for another 20 year run of winning. Man...AA sure picks his spots well!
  5. 1.3 WAR in 365 PA's in 2016 with a league average bat (wRC+ of 100). He fell off a cliff after the 2010 season (4.7 WAR) and has been a backup player ever since, while chasing 3000 hits and/or Rose's all time profession hit record. He was an incredible player. It's been a pleasure watching him for the past 18 years.
  6. Is this Seth Beer's draft year? They were raving about that kid for years and now he's not a projected 1st round pick?
  7. Cavan Biggio is destroying AA.
  8. Theoretically, they should be better, but Diaz and Gurriel are doing a pretty good Barney/Goins impressions right now.
  9. Shockingly - some people here like baseball in general.
  10. If JD is ready to return - he's not going to be our 26th man.
  11. Not to add gas to the fire, but Adam Ottavino used the slow mo camera in a warehouse this offseason to make tangible improvements (sorry for posting this again). https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/adam-ottavino-rebuilt-himself-in-a-vacant-manhattan-storefront/ Then again - maybe he just borrowed a bottle of the sticky stuff from Houston too (I'm just making a joke - you're triggered here).
  12. I mean yes I would. However, substance or no substance, a drastic change in your pitch usage could partially explain the newfound success. That's all I'm saying (I'll stop now).
  13. Yeah - I've been in there. I'm just saying it may not just be cheating. Cole's using his breaking balls way more in Houston than he did in Pittsburgh.
  14. Thought this was a pretty cool article (for once) from fangraphs. https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/adam-ottavino-rebuilt-himself-in-a-vacant-manhattan-storefront/
  15. I don't doubt what you're saying, but I thought one of theories for Cole's success in Houston was that he's throwing his curve and slider way more than he did in Pittsburgh where they pitch to contact more (although sticking fingers makes the curve/slider more nasty)
  16. Interesting topic. As someone just pointed out - Verlander seems to be completely dominant again. Have his spin rates spiked since he moved to Houston? Chad Morton? My other question is - do they think this is the sunscreen/rosin combo....or something different? I thought it was widely known that most pitchers are using that combo? You also heard announcers say the hitters would prefer if the pitchers had a good grip on the ball when they are throwing 95 MPH. I highly doubt that true.
  17. Cool stat of the day: If Hader doesn't strike out any of the next 101 batters he faces - he'll still have a league average strikeout rate.
  18. This is exactly the type of quality analysis we should expect from Barker. Dogg is trolling (as per usual), but I do enjoy him keeping us posted on all the incredibly stupid things that Barker says throughout the year. I still think we need a thread devoted to all the stupid things that our local broadcast teams says.
  19. Wouldn't it be nice if someone could call in and explain to Barker and Blair, in a very professional manner that they are f***ing stupid and have no business spreading nonsense to the general public?
  20. I need to look into these podcast things you young hipster talk about...
  21. Amen!!! My wife sure is reaping the rewards of Vlad's success.
  22. I love how Buck thinks Molitor is going to grill the team after the game. "Leave the lights on, we have some teaching to do" These are grown men. "Hey Dozier - you need to catch the ball and get an out". Holy f*** that will go over well. Thanks coach - I was confused as to what I should do there.
  23. Buck is confused as to why that was ruled an error? WTF?
