  1. Perfect. He or she will fit right in.
  2. 2 questions: 1. Has Yelich locked up the NL MVP Award? Looks like he's going to finish with 30/100/100 with a .320 avg and 20+ SB's. He leads NL hitters in WAR by 0.8 and his wRC+ is a sexy 158. What a steal the Brew Crew got. 2. Is Anthony Rendon the most underrated player in baseball? Don't look, but he's 2nd in the NL in WAR (hitters only). He's averaged 5.8 WAR a season in his 4 full seasons in the majors.
  3. Always thinking Krylian - that's why I like you.
  4. why didn't I think of that! Sandberg was my favourite player when I was 10. Maybe I better knock of the wife again.
  5. Thanks. I took an arbitrary game in 2016 and another from 2018 and it does appear his spin rates are down. However, it also appears his velocity is down too (based on the 2 games I grabbed)....blah - it needs to be able to calculate an average spin rate from date X to date Y to get a better sense.
  6. My bad - here I thought the 52 games his missed this year with a finger contusion (when he got his finger caught in a falling suitcase) would have qualified under "finger stuff" or "finger issues". I'd image the pain, flexibility, strength, etc. from that could impact his velocity. BTW - is there any game by game spin rate stats available to see whether Sanchez has a decreased spin rate since returning from the blister issues?
  7. Well it will be one of the closers that won it (Eck or Gagne) - so I don't think Snell or Sale should be penalized for not throwing 200 innings.
  8. um...no? I'm just saying the guy's been pretty damn impressive this year. Sure he's had some 'luck' behind him, but if he finishes the season with a 1.90 ERA, it would be the second lowest ERA in the AL in the past 40 years (2000 Pedro 1.74). Believe me - I love advanced stats. They are great indications as a pitchers true talent and to predict their future success; however, I don't think you can't totally eliminate the actual results. I find it hard to penalize Snell for being 'lucky' this year. And really, here are the FIP and xFIP for the top AL pitchers Verlander - 2.85, 3.08 Cole - 2.71, 2.98 Snell - 2.98, 3.16 Carrasco - 2.98, 2.90 Severino - 2.95, 3.08 The only standout pitcher in the AL has been Sale (1.98, 2.28). I'd probably buy the argument that he should win it despite only throwing 153 innings. He's only 0.1 WAR behind the AL leader in Verlander.
  9. Ask Donaldson...
  10. Wouldn't his ability to maintain the same velocity suggest the finger isn't a big issue? (whereas a drop in velocity would suggest it's causing problems). I'm excited to see Grant explain to explain why I'm clearly wrong and how logic is in fact illogical.
  11. He is 21-5 with a 1.90 ERA....
  12. That return TB got for Archer is looking pretty solid.
  13. I can't believe I'm asking this, but why do you call him gurribabip? He's posted a 110 wRC+ with a BABIP of .333. I mean he has some worts in his game, but this kid just got transplanted in a new country and has barely played any baseball the past 2 seasons. The kid's had a pretty damn good season.
  14. Holy f*** this guy is slow to the plate.
  15. TL;DR - was this mostly cheating and emotional abuse? or did he get physical?
  16. Khris Davis is currently the 7th most valuable player on HIS OWN TEAM! Let that one sink in MLB.com
  17. Same - and actually they say the Coliseum is one of the loudest stadiums in baseball when it's full. Between the noise and the backed up shittiers - that would be a hectic environment for the Yankees to walk into.
  18. To be fair - Dimaggio gave up 3 full seasons is his prime to enlist in the US Army. I love his BB/K ratios. 12.2 BB%, 2.1 K% in 1941. He was one of the best.
  19. I don't recall Ramirez being a player who revamped his swing as part of the lift and launch era. He's just drastically out performed anything he ever showed in the minors. You can call Sanchez a flash in the pan (I'd agree), but Romero was pretty good for 3 straight years (600+ innings) before both his knees blew up. His minor league numbers suggested he was s*** - so I think he falls into the category you're looking for.
  20. JD Martinez was great in the minors. You're looking for names like 2016 Aaron Sanchez, Ricky Romero, Jose Ramirez, etc.
  21. meh - Johnston may have John beat... I wish Fangraphs would do an article justifying their employment of Sheryl Ring. He's obnoxious.
  22. Good - they don't deserve to make the playoffs.
  23. I always thought Alford's swing had a lot of similarities to JD's.
  24. incorrect statements? I called you a ****. It doesn't get more accurate than that.
