  1. That's fair - my bad man. Sorry. I could have chosen my words better. I used to really enjoy your unique insight, but it seems something has changed this year. You seem very repetitive and just a little off. I hope all is well.
  2. Rockies gifted HR after ball bounces off head of Angels' Adell 😬 https://thescore.com/s/35754215 Adelle pulls off the Canseco - yikes!
  3. We know you hate it when the adults have a conversation without you.
  4. Nobody said anything you just claimed. People just questioned whether the cultural adjustment might be part of the explanation for a slow start this year. Nobody f*cking knows, but we're hoping there's a reasonable explanation. Nobody gives a flying f*ck about Justin Gonzalez. What happened to you? You off your meds or something these days? You're unbearable.
  5. You can't be stupid enough to believe that ever player who arrives from the DR is going to adjust at the same speed/rate. Every player handles adjustments, changes, coaching, training, etc. differently. It's the same reason the best hitter in College doesn't always become the best ML hitter in their class. It's why #1 overall draft picks still bust.
  6. Did you get upset when they had Barbie night on May 9th? Does Cricket Day at the Park upset you? How about Transformer Day, Stranger Things day, Care Bare day, Hello Kitty day? Watch out for those Care Bare fans - they might try and suck your d*ck! Don't like it? Don't go. Pretty simple.
  7. Do realize how f*cking stupid this sounds right?
  8. Yeah - that's a good point, pitchers don't need more advantages these days. I have seen those old videos showing what check swings used to look like - they are wild. To be honest - I kinda just trust MLB these days. They've been spot on with almost all the recent changes.
  9. Steve Phillips is a moron. The fact someone pays him to talk and write about baseball is embarrassing.
  10. What did they determine the "line in the sand" was? Based on that video, it looks like it's about a 45 degree angle in front of the plate? I always thought there was no official "rule" - it was simply the umpires judgement as to whether it was a swing or not. The old adages like "he broke his wrists" or "bat crossed the front of the plate" aren't in the rule book, but they kinda defined what umps were looking for? But yes - you can see in the comment section that people are generally confused because they think if the bat crosses the front of the plate, it's a swing. Fans will adjust, they have with every new rule change that's been implemented recently. I actually think having a set in stone rule to follow will help...

I didn't know they had a check swing ABS challenge system in AAA this year. I like it. Asking an ump who's 100 feet away was always a bit suspect (although they do a pretty good job). I wonder at what rate umps get check swing calls right at the ML level - using whatever threshold they've determined for this ABS system...
  12. Grandma could also steal a base off Hoffman - that isn't helping things at all. He needs to hold runners better.
  13. Heineman's BABIP is .400 in 3 innings this year...
  14. I think you can. It's ballsy, but there's nothing wrong with playing the odds. That said, the Jays have taken him out of the highest leverage role. He's only pitched the 9th in the past few weeks on days when Varland faces the meat of the order in the 8th and he faces the bottom half in the 9th. That's the right approach.
  15. Location+ suggests he's controlling pitches better than he ever has. He's at 103 on the year v. his career average of 92. It's certainly very odd and disheartening. Baseball can certainly be a confusing an cruel game. At this point, all we can do is hope things start to even out. If they do, Hoffman will probably be one of the best RPers in baseball over the next 4-5 months. We could certainly use that.
  16. Max Scherzer (forearm) threw three scoreless innings for Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday. The veteran struck out four and walked two, while throwing 24 of his 41 pitches for strikes. Scherzer also sat 93.3 mph on his four-seam fastball, which is right in line with where he’s been when healthy the last few seasons. His slider got four whiffs on six swings, and was his best swing and miss pitch on the day. Overall, it was a pretty solid outing for Scherzer, who has been out since late April.
  17. I believe I've heard otherwise. I think he has certain people he trusts and he only listens to them. I think that's a type of stubbornness. We had a lot of discussions about this back in 2023/2024 when it became super frustrating that he couldn't replicate his 2021 breakout season. I don't have any quotes or articles (anymore) on the topic. I really thought he'd figured something out late last year. Seems this is who is he is - just unable to fully reach his potential due to inconsistencies. He's as frustrating an athlete as I can remember.
  18. Just to warn everyone - Valenzuela might look a lot different at the plate when he's only playing a couple of times a week. It's something he's probably never done in his career and most player struggle initially to become bench players who can still perform with irregular playing time. I think we should keep Valenzuela with the big club when Kirk returns - we should see how he handles that role and give him experience at it - but there's a good chance he struggles with the bat in that role. What a great find he's been though. Unreal. Poor Will Wagner is a below average AAA player right now unfortunately.
  19. 100% - I highly doubt we'll see Kirk starting at catcher 5 days a week when he returns. They will be cautious with him.
  20. Remember Elvis Andrus? It happens - even to very good defenders. Okamoto has been very solid defensively. I don't have any concerns with his ability there.
  21. I generally follow the Barrie Baycats and catch portions of several games each year (as my boys play ball out of the same complex/stadium). A couple of the guys I used to play ball with in the NDBL are coaching for the Baycats and there are still a few players I played with in the league. I missed seeing Puig when he was in Town on May 14th, but it was like -7 that night, so we bailed on going. The Baycats also have a U22 junior team now and I know a few of the kids on it. There's a chance that one day a lot of the kids I used to coach may play for them, which would be cool.
  22. For the same reason the haters don't leave this place...
