  1. What do you think you were "right" about? Simply that the FO would DFA Jimenez over optioning Lukes? You want a gold star for guessing correctly on something with a 50/50 outcome? If you're suggesting this was an obvious move and there's no way they'd consider optioning Lukes - I don't think this result confirms or denies that at all. MI depth is a real thing - especially for a team that will be contending in a VERY difficult AL East. I fully expect the FO looked at this in depth before making any decision. How'd Leo look this spring, how'd Kasevich look, play and fit in - is he finally healthy? What other MI's might be on the waiver wire this year? How'd Schneider look defensively at 2nd? This move comes with risk and god knows you'll be the first in line to sh*t on the FO if Gimenez breaks his leg and Kasevich's back becomes an issue again - or Schneider is back to hitting .192. The margin for error this year is razer thin. We have OF depth at the ML level and the upper minors. As harsh as it is, nobody should give a f*ck about Lukes' feelings (and Ioved the Lukes story last year). He's a 31 year old journeyman who's had 500 effective PA's in his career and is more likely to turn back into a pumpkin this year than he is to contribute. Nobody is "right" or "wrong" - it's just whether this decision comes back to bite us in the *ss or not.
  2. Did Lukes make it instead? The Leo decision was almost solely about having MI depth at the upper minors. Kasevich's spring may have eased those concerns enough to take the risk he's claimed. There will regularly be similar guys available on waivers.
  3. The Garcia injury stings forsure.
  4. That's awesome man. Nothing better in life than a father/son day at the ball diamond. I also need to get to Busch Stadium still - hoping I get to take my boys to it and I hope one day they tell their friends that it was some of the fondest memories they have ❤️
  5. Between 2000 and 2015, they went to the playoffs in 12 of 16 seasons, won the World Series twice and lost in the finals twice. They were a great organization - albeit one that had their own model and were very rigid about it - something that is now seemingly hurting them. They also stole Chris Carpenter from the Jays and turned him into an ace - which Jays fans remain bitter about.
  6. I think the reality is that nobody knows...
  7. PCA is signing a long term deal with the Cubbies. It will be interesting to see how long/much he gets and how this works out. Will he be able to recreate 1st have PCA? Will the Cubs get big time value? or will PCA cash in on a GREAT half season?
  8. JJ Wetherholt made the Cards opening day roster. Good for him. Curious to see what he can become.
  9. OK - that makes sense to me. I was going to ask about Estrada/Clippard. For whatever reason - Jason Bere came to mind - the fosh!
  10. That's a good way of putting it. Are there any pitchers who throw a similar changeup? That might help people picture it.
  11. 5 more years of Boss Atkins? How soon before fans are upset over this? End of April is my guess.
  12. Yeah - I've known this for awhile and have always believed Salvy was overrated. That said, I respect the leader he's been in KC - and we don't see many players spend their entire career with one team. I don't think he's a HOF player, but he's had a great career for the Royals franchise. He's a bit like Joe Carter and Tony Batista offensively. Lots of empty counting stats. Never walks, but doesn't strike out a ton either. Massive hot streak with the stick in 2020 and 2021.
  13. I saw a Driveline Instagram video of Tellez hitting lasers in the lab. Just 105+ MPH nukes. I think he maxed out around 113. AA must have been dooms scrolling like I was!!!
  14. Dylan Crews optioned to AAA. He's in his age 24 season and is entering "bust" territory, which is wild.
  15. I think we all use K/9 because that's one of the prominent stats shown on Fangraphs. But you make a good point - thanks for bringing it to our attention.
  16. Has this been confirmed? I haven't seen it confirmed one way or the other...
  17. The Blue Jays are changing the Level of Excellence to the Hall of Excellence. They are taking the names/numbers down from the upper level and are creating a "hall" on the 100 level. Interesting - I liked having the names/numbers displayed, but I guess at some point it becomes too cluttered. It will be interesting to see what they create. I hope it's wicked.
  18. 6.5 BB/9 with a 3.5 K/9 isn't ideal...some might say that ERA isn't sustainable.
  19. Yeah - I'm aware. Barriera has been injured for 2 years now and Maroudis came back throwing 90 MPH puss. You have to squint really hard to imagine them still having much upside.
  20. https://toronto.citynews.ca/2026/03/19/buck-martinez-toronto-blue-jays-level-of-excellence-rogers-centre/ As expected, Buck is headed straight to the Level of Excellence. Ceremony will be August 29th.
  21. Anyone know if Schneider has logged any innings at 2nd this spring? With Clement and Gimenez at the WBC - you'd think it would have been a great time to get him some reps.
