    He says Jansen's framing hasn't been good. That may be true (I'm too lazy to figure out where you look that up), but he's posted a 9.6 DEF value per Fangraphs to date this year, which is fantastic and allowed him to be above replacement level with just a 48 wRC+

    + Ohtani They have 2 of the most marketable players in the game. The Angels in the playoffs is incredible for baseball.

    As a minimum, shouldn't Alford and even J.Davis be quality 4th OFers? CFers who run like the wind and play all 3 OF positions? If these guys could post wRC+'s in the low 90's, we'd be set.

    Snell's basically the same guy he was last year. Last year he has a ton of luck, this year, no luck. Same pitcher.

    A few random thoughts (following some time sifting through Fangraphs) 1. Blake Snell is the new poster boy for advance analytics. 2. The Willians Astudillo hype died quick. 3. Ted Williams was incredible (I mean I always knew he was...but good lord sometimes you forget until you examine those numbers again). Anyone else do that? Just sift through player page after player page on Fangraphs? Probably my favourite way to escape reality (without a bottle of Jergans)

    Jansen's WAR is still higher than Vlady's in a similar number of games and PA's. That's either encouraging as it means his defense has been great and thus when the bat comes around, he'll be a solid starting catcher. Or it's really sad how poorly Vlady's first couple months in the majors have gone.

    In other news. Pillar still has a negative WAR on the season (-0.4), including -0.1 as a Giant. The fact that Shatkins got anything at all for him is probably a small miracle.
