  1. Braves give up a comp pick for just 1 year of Ozuna? I wonder if they wanted him for say 3 years $45M and he decided he'd rather a 1 year deal to hit the mark next year with compensation attached to him.
  2. “Rowdy’s going to have a chance,” Montoyo said. “I’m a fan of Rowdy and you guys know that. And he’s still a young kid. Some guys take a little bit longer, sometimes they do it faster. That’s above-average power that he’s got and you don’t find that everywhere, so Rowdy’s going to get a chance to make the club also, for sure.” I mean we should expect Charlie to say this - but to suggest above average power is hard to find is pretty laughable in today's game. Everybody hits bombs now Charlie.
  3. It would be boner inducing to see this type of tweet about Vladdy.
  4. Why does Andruw Jones get the shaft from voters? Statistically, he's the best defensive CF of all-time by a significant margin (much the way Ozzie is the best defensive SS of all-time) and posted 67 WAR. How on earth does Omar Vizquel, the 9th best defensive SS of all-time who posted 42.5 WAR get more votes than Jones? Do we think this is based on assumptions that Jones was on PEDs?
  5. That's pretty cool. Definitely skills/stats I've never really looked at in much depth before. Just to confirm, the SprSpd is their peak speed?
  6. Biggio is faster than Mookie Betts? Learn something new everyday!
  7. We've had discussions about that on here and lots claim they want their announcers to tell mildly entertaining stories, tell you what they 'think' players are actually talking about on the bench, how country strong a player is and how nice the weather is. They don't want them cluttering the broadcast with a more modern take on how the game is played and the stats to support it. I'm with Bauer on this.
  8. RAPTOR - thanks.
  9. Thanks Spanky. I mean it better start showing up this year or I'd have to think his prospect is going to start dropping significantly.
  10. What's the new stat they have in the NBA that would be their version of 'WAR'? It was discussed a while back here, but I forget (also where do I find it if you know). I think it was a 5 letter acronym?
  11. What's the deal with him? .160 ISO and a 27 K% in AA as a 22 year old doesn't scream top prospect to me (isn't he considered below average defensively in the OF with a move to 1st in his future?). Is he one of these guys who shows huge power potential in practice?
  12. female curling is the tits.
  13. I agree with this, although, as I age and am caught up in the hussle and bussle of raising 3 boys - I've actually found that I don't really enjoy watching any sport from start to finish. I'm at the arena 5-8 times per week, but I loath actually watching it on TV and I truly no longer enjoy watching football (which I think may be linked to quitting fantasy football 2-3 years ago). I still prefer to watch baseball and basketball; however, most of the time, the game is simply on in the background as I do other things....until playoff time. I tend to focus in on the games then.
  14. The decision may also have been influenced by their knowledge or suspicion that other teams were also doing this. I mean if you're the only team doing this, that's one thing, but if you know 7 or 8 other teams are already, then you're probably more likely to make the conscience decision to do it.
  15. I can't wait until they reveal the new uni's and we can close this thread. This thread is a sure-fire sign that it's time for spring training baseball...
  16. I find it fascinating how much people choose to read into stuff. I mean for me - Altuve's simply doing something playful at home plate with his teammates after one of the biggest moments of his life. It reminds me of how Adrian Beltre didn't want teammates to touch his helmet. I mean these guys see and are involved with the walk off celebrations throughout their careers and it's not unreasonable to think Altuve may have thought about how he'd react in that moment the next time he hit a walkoff (I believe these guys do visualization stuff regularly). Similar to how football players have planned TD celebrations. In one of the biggest moments of his life - it is reasonable to think he'd remember something he'd planned? or would the mind go blank in excitement? I don't know the answer to that and suggest only a fool would think they do. Also - in this scenario (where he has to warn his teammates not to rip off his jersey), you'd have to assume that either his teammates didn't know about it, or that he didn't wear it all the time (perhaps only in certain situations). If they wore it all year long, then surely the team would be well aware and know not to rip his jersey off. I guess either of those could be true. Personally, I have no idea if he did, or didn't and won't generate a firm opinion or view without more evidence (has their been any evidence? or right, there isn't).
  17. Um - it might be because there is no men's collegiate softball???
  18. I'm going to have to check, but I'm pretty sure this is the type of s*** you can't say anymore boomer.
  19. f*** man, you can't even keep the facts straight, but you know exactly what happened right? He didn't answer why he went and put on the division champions t-shirt (that all his other teammates had already changed into).
  20. MLB already investigated the buzzer thing and found no evidence of it. They didn't need to wait until someone pretending to be Beltran's niece posted s*** on Twitter.
  21. Baseball rumors on MMA message boards are notorious for being 100% accurate. They should strip Trout of all MVP trophies immediately!
  22. Right - his "son" must have been confused and unable to remember what role his Dad played on the team. Manny Acta and Mike do look similar. No need to question the validity of this tweet at all.
  23. FFS - Mike Brosius wasn't even the Mariners 3rd base coach in 2017. He was named the 3rd base coach for the 2018 season.
