  1. what is Veen's hit tool at now? You hear there is some swing and miss in his approach, but he's got great plate discipline and that swing is f***ing picturesque.
  2. MLBPA is proposing 89 games with full pro-rated salaries and expanded playoffs. For f*** sakes - meet in the middle and get on with it. 82 games, 90% pro-rated salaries and no expended playoffs - giddy up.
  3. To be fair - the MLBPA are a bunch of f***ing cry babies and I suspect nothing they propose (even just reverse order of the shortened season standings) will be good enough or viewed as fair.
  4. Why do people compare Meyer to Walker Buehler? Just based on the slender, athletic frame? Buehler is listed at 6'2" and has a 4 pitch mix. I don't even see a ton of similarity in their deliveries.
  5. As if I needed another reason to hate the Royals.
  6. Fair point - I never considered it from a contract negotiation aspect. Appreciate the input. That said, it seems odd that if they are negotiating with Veen, that leaked rumours they really like Meyer would play any tangible role (however, I've never negotiated a $6M deal, so what do I know - I'd probably s*** my pants).
  7. Why would there be any need for a smokescreen in the MLB draft when you can't trade picks? That makes no sense.
  8. I'm in my 30's too. I still play baseball, as do my 3 boys. Almost all the people I hang out with love baseball and do care about it. I also love basketball. I'd say half the people I hang out with love it too. I understand baseball isn't huge with the younger generation and that MLB needs to do a better job. I don't think 2 weeks of it being the only sport on TV is going to save the game. However, the original point was you said that nobody is going to care about a 48 game schedule. That is false. You never know - a 48 game schedule might actually engage the younger generation as every game matters (something the full 162 game grind doesn't give the impression of).
  9. To normal people - working less for the same amount of money would be viewed as a good thing. If MLB offered an 82 game season with full pro-rated salaries....would the MLBPA reject it because it's only 50% of their salary?
  10. So all your complaining is about missing a 2 week window when there's no NBA or NHL to watch? c'mon man.
  11. Why won't anyone give a damn about it? A 48 game schedule heightens the importance of every game. It may almost feel like playoff baseball for the entire season. While I understand that goes against tradition and the traditional strategy - it could make it very interesting for fans to watch.
  12. Interesting thought. If there's no season - or just a partial season, we might end up with another Top 5 or Top 10 pick.
  13. MLB just proposed a 76 game season with 75% of prorated salaries...
  14. I finally watched it. Really enjoyed it and would generally echo was BlueRocky said.
  15. Veen's pretty confident to say he's been compared to Bellinger and then say he doesn't play the game to be average like him.
  16. this seems most plausible - and I mean - we can almost see those results (TJ Zeuch)
  17. I hear you man. I have to imagine it's the health concerns - and not the SSS 2020 results that are impacting the slide? Might be some of the analytics on his spin rates and such too? Might be teams over thinking it.
  18. I agree on Hancock. I read in a mock yesterday how he was shaping up to be one of the best 1-1 picks in awhile after his 2019 season. That's high praise that now seems to be overshadowed by like 4 starts in 2020. The big unknown seems to be the report on his health, with some concern as to why he was shut down last year and was slow out of the gate this year. If teams get that information and it suggests a clean bill of health - he seems like an upside pick.
  19. TSN re-aired it last night. I've taped it, but haven't watched yet. I suspect it will be on TSN somewhat regularly for the next little bit.
  20. BR - don't you ever apologize for your posts ever again you beautiful bastard!
  21. It looks like Ginn is going to end up at the end of the 1st round...
  22. Yeah - I see it in your YouTube link....but not as much in the 2 embedded videos. I see it a lot in this video from his time with the USA team Might just be camera angles.
  23. Meyer looks like he lands so wide open when he pitches. Anyone else see that in his mechanics?
  24. We haven't even talked about Robert Hassell. Kiley has him 6th overall now. Much more likely to stick in CF as a good defender. He looks like a future stud too.
  25. Dozier was a 5-6 WAR player at his peek. I guess Metafor will have to rule on whether you're allowed to compare a potential top 5 draft pick to someone that good.
