    It's kind of crazy to see guys like Max Fried sitting at 7-0 with a 2.25 ERA and Kershaw at 6-2 with a 2.15 ERA and they aren't even in the conversation.

    I was going to say that the dinosaurs will probably favor Darvish due to Wins...however, they'll be contradicted by Bauer's ERA. I'd love to see deGrom land his 3rd straight, which will essentially lock him into the HOF.

    Correct Boxy. My point was he suggested lighter bats improve bat speed and thus why everyone uses maple bats now. That isn't really true. Maple is heavier, but not too heavy to swing and has all the benefits you described above, which is why it's most popular.

    That's fair, but the point remains you'd essentially never DH Grichuk. If Davis hits enough to start in CF then Grich plays RF and Teo DH's....or, if Rowdy gets back and hits like he did before the injury, Tellez/Vlad will play 1st/DH and Teo will play RF with Grich on the bench (or in CF).

    The difference is Kirk's always been super fat. He's accustomed to it. Vlad was always large, but he's gone from large to obese (think HR in Montreal v. Vlad in July/August). His adapting to his body changing.

    This reminds me of the video posted recently of Vlad hitting the walk off dinger in Montreal. It's like Vlad and Kirk joined Randy Santel for a food challenge trip across America immediately afterwards.

    f*** - I missed the game and was listening to the end of it on the car on my way home. I was pumped to hear Vlad had 3 extra base hits. Then I saw that highlights. f*** me.

    Interesting breakdown. I understand the financial justification for keeping the expanded playoffs - but this breakdown, for me, tells me the current format is really solid and I'm disappointed they are going to change it. Maybe it will just end up like the NBA where the #1 seed beats the #8 seed almost every single time in a relatively unimportant playoff round.

    It's hard imagine any projection system would suggest Vlad will be our best hitter for the remaining portion of our season.
