  1. I'm starting to think we should be selling - not buying. When Biggio is hitting better than Bo, Teo, Chapman and Espinal - you know we're in trouble. Unless magic Pete Walker can fix Berrios and/or Kikuchi REALLY soon - this team has too many holes. Maybe...just maybe 'fixing' pitchers is essentially a crapshoot and Pete Walker isn't god - he just got lucky a few times in a row.
  2. I think this is the root issue. It's not that he's scared people will hit his fastball. He just can't throw the fastball where he wants it (or for strikes) so he often has to pitch backwards. The reality is these guys aren't robots and sometimes they have to throw the pitch they are most comfortable throwing for strikes - not the pitch that's best for that particular situation. At least that's my take as someone who pitched for most their life and was in that situation more than I'd like to admit.
  3. Did anyone post the umpire scorecard from that game? I've been busy and probably missed it. Was it one of the worst games called this year (or in the past 5 years)?
  4. This sounds like good news. Are you wondering if there's a party to celebrate?
  5. NBA Draft is tonight. Rumor is OG wants out of TO and the Trail Blazers might offer the 7th overall pick for him. Would you do that? Maybe it's OG for the 7th Pick, Keon Johnson (or Trendon Watford) and Winslow (to balance salaries). I'd love this move if Ivey or Mathurin were to fall to 7. Should be an interesting night!
  6. Is sunscreen and rosin now legal? Gravemans arm is super shiny
  7. Am I the only one who doesn't think Gausman ever pauses? He bounces and bounces and there's never a distinct pause of change before he starts his delivery.
  8. Yep - bring back Junior Felix. He was right. Berrios is trash.
  9. Holy f*** man - we aren't going to add that many players!
  10. You say that like most big pay day contracts work out and are worth it. I don't believe that's true, but would accept some stats to prove otherwise.
  11. Berrios f***ing sucks ass. What a disaster that contract is.
  12. Just writing to note that Jeter Downs has been absolutely balls since joining the Red Sox system...but is still getting called up to the bigs.
  13. Holy f*** connorp, this shouldn't be such a difficult concept. It's pretty obvious.
  14. I was at his last start in Toronto and I swear to god with runners on, Gausman is balking on every pitch. He never stops bouncing or tapping his hands. I can't fathom how this isn't considered a balk.
  15. Ding Ding Ding.....KO
  16. You could also trade Moreno for one.
  17. It's really easy to cherry pick out the examples you want. Here, I'll try. How did Kerry Wood and Mark Prior's careers turn out? See how easy that is? You also can't really look at someone's career and say with any certainty "the inning limits and the proper usage of him have maximized his potential" because you can't directly compare the alternative. It's easy for a fan to say "well Kershaw went on the IL anyway so obviously that strategy didn't work", but you and I have no idea what impacts that game had on him or would have had on him had he continued pitching. He went on the IL with pelvis/back injury 4 starts after that perfect game try....should we link that to the decision of his first start? There are experts who study this for a living. I'm inclined to trust the decisions from the organizations that are spending millions on athletes, trying to win a championship. Even if it wouldn't have had any impact on Kershaw's health this season, there was risk that it would have. As the Dodgers, that risk isn't worth personal glory IMO.
  18. I'm not sure it's a good idea to trade Jansen until we see more of Moreno. Let's not forget Jansen's been a f***ing stud as of last May/June. We're ready to win now. We can't afford to let Moreno 'learn' to hit ML pitching the next couple of years.
  19. Am I the only one who sees a changeup with arm side tail and not a screwball? I've never heard it described as a screwball before.
  20. This! For f*** sakes WryNGinger - don't tell the good new poster to go away for a week. Don't be an idiot.
  21. Kody Clemens got to pitch today for the Tigers
  22. Jesus - easy with the facts there InsideThePark. BBJ prefers his own narrative that's based on absolutely nothing. He's allowed to have a (horribly misconstrued) opinion because god damn it, it's the internet and that's how we operate these days.
  23. Yeah I get that, but Edman is 3rd in the NL in WAR. Hard to ignore that no matter how to provides the value. I don't know about you, but I love watching great defense and base running. Jazz is a really exciting player and I want to see him at the AS game too. He's great for the game and the youth who watch the game.
  24. Edman - 3.2 WAR Jazz - 2.1 WAR What's not close?
  25. I was just thinking the same thing.
