  1. Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Can't ever host the Super Bowl. I know Buffalo has a lot of pride in playing/watching football in cold weather and feel it gives them an advantage, but f*** me - It takes a special type of person to want to spend money to watch the game in freezing temperatures. Clearly it's no an issue for Buffalo, but it's certainly not for me and it really limits my ability to bring my family to it (there are lot of other factors which also prevent me from bringing my family to a Bills game - as they are complete s*** shows - an environment unsuitable for children). I wonder what the capacity of the stadium will be and if they could actually increase the capacity (and draw in more fans) if they would add a roof and cater more to non-insane people and families a bit more.
  2. Very wishful thinking. The information is already available to show how's good and poor at umpiring and nothing happens. No accountability.
  3. You very well could be right. I guess that's why they test it out in the AFL first. Why don't you prefer the ear piece in the umpire? Think it will upset Angel too much?
  4. So in the event of a called 3rd strike - the player would look into the dugout to decide if the manager is OK with them using one of their 3 challenges (that end an at bat)? How many challenges a game are you comfortable with? I understand the penalty if the batter is wrong - but this could lead to like 15+ challenges a game. Nobody wants that do they? Plus - what about the pitcher/catcher - same rules? Can only challenge 3 times on calls that result in walks? I could see the pitcher getting pissed, asking for a challenge and the catcher trying to wave him off because he thought it was the right call. I can't for the live of me see how this is a good approach. The only reason to take this approach is to keep 'some' element of human decision on the balls/strikes. f*** that - just get the call right every time. The technology is there.
  5. Did you see the Bills dig in the renderings? The score is Bills 24 | Jets 3 LOL
  6. Tennis is an individual sport. The player is in charge of their own decisions. I wonder how this plays out in baseball. Vlad is up in the 3rd inning and the Jays are winning 2-0. A close strike call goes against him, and, like he almost always does, he shows his emotion and calls for a challenge. But Schneider doesn't want him wasting a challenge in the 3rd inning, oh and by the way, the Jays video staff are watching and they know the umpire made the correct call. Now what? In this video - it was the batter who just immediately signaled for a challenge. I just can't imagine teams will give players that freedom and thus there will be constant looking back into the dugout to wait for the sign to challenge it. We might get to the point that the Manager wears a headset like in the NFL so he's in constant communication with the video room. I'm not on board with this yet. Why not just put an ear piece in the umpire and get every ball/strike call correct?
  7. First renderings of Buffalo's new stadium. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/34889115/buffalo-bills-release-first-renderings-future-stadium I have no idea what makes an awesome stadium these days, but this looks pretty cool.
  8. He certainly acts like he's never been wrong in his life. Simply having umps with an ear piece that tells the the correct call is the better way to go IMO. Challenges like his are stupid.
  9. What's Eovaldi going to get? I think he'd be a solid add.
  10. Why would the Angels want Springer? You think they want to move Ohtani and still try to contend? I can't imagine that's the case, but the Angels are kind of nuts, so maybe?
  11. Yeah fair - Phillies won in 2008, so it's not like this couple was waiting 50 years to see their favourite team win together. I still have a soft spot for an old fart like that who's grieving after the death of his wife. This one is a bit more heartfelt. Son listens to Game 7 of the 2016 World Series at his fathers grave because they made a pact as longtime Cubs fans to be together when the Cubs won the World Series. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/17963668/keeping-promise-man-listens-chicago-cubs-win-dad-gravesite
  12. Timmy Trumpet at the dome would be electric. That's the best reason I can come up with.
  13. Matt Moore and Taylor Rogers aren't in the same area code. You can probably get Moore for 1/5th the cost of Rogers.
  14. Jomboy Media (@jomboymedia) • Instagram reel WWW.INSTAGRAM.COM 69K likes, 470 comments - jomboymedia on October 25, 2022: "It’s amazing how much baseball means to this family ❤️". That might convince me to cheer for the Phillies. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
  15. Isn't the obvious issue here that you can't have LOOGY's like we used to? Mayza faced 115 RHB this year (v. only 78 LHB) and RHB hit .291 (.162 v. LHB). Mayza isn't a major issue, but ideally, he'd be pushed down the pecking order a few notches. Adding a Taylor Rogers + the emergence of Pearson as an elite setup guy would give this pen a whole new identity.
  16. That's a very small sample size, while all the underlying stats suggest there's a lot of bad luck involved (14+ K/9, 3.09 xFIP). If that run of blow saves happened in May, you wouldn't be mentioning it. Rogers has been one of the better and most consistent relievers in baseball over the past 5 years.
  17. I agree with Mayza - although it would be ideal if the replacement/upgrade was also left handed. Pop was supposed to be the guy we turn from a nobody into Clay Holmes! Pete was to work his magic on Pop this offseason.
  18. f*** - now I need to send out 2 trophies
  19. Him or Merryweather are bound to do this...
  20. Well - that's fair. Perhaps there won't be. [shrugs]
  21. OK - but that doesn't answer my question
  22. This is spot on. I think we see some movement in the pen his offseason.
  23. I get more action in a week than you've had your entire life. I've got houses in LA, Paris and Vail. Oh, each one of them with a 70 inch plasma screen. So, I suggest you wipe that stupid smile off your face before I come over there and smack if off. You feeling strong my friend? Call me elf one more time!!!
  24. Teo hit 2 home runs in Game 2. He didn't cough up anything. Pay that man for his efforts
