I don't understand the resistance. They aren't uncomfortable and kids wear them for their entire minor hockey career. It's not something you have to get used to, it's something you just have to continue wearing. Full cages is exactly the same. Is this all about appearance? They think it looks stupid? I've never once watched my kids play hockey, or any kind in minor hockey for that matter and said to myself "man, he looks so stupid with that neck guard on". It is beyond ridiculous. I could probably understand the argument that they don't want to go to full cages because it reduces the marketability of players if you can't see their face - but I still think that's stupid. Football players wear cages. You can see someone face through an Itech fishbowl mask just as much as you can see a QB or a RB (especially if they were the tinted visor). I fully agree that it will just take players deciding to be trailblazers who decide to wear it on their own before we see any change at the NHL level. Those players will just have to put up with the mocking for a bit and grind through it. I mean, bullying isn't really "cool" anymore, so it's more likely to happen. I mean - someone just died. Now is the time for change. What am I missing?
  2. I'm a little worried they won't quite be s***** enough to retain this pick...
  3. I don't believe this is true at all. I firmly believe that if the Jays somehow went on a run in the playoffs this year and won the WS that most people in here would openly admit they just got hot at the right time and had lady luck on their side. No different than most feel that's what has happened for Arizona.
  4. The f***? Your comment about Montgomery was in response to a comment 3 pages back about how Texas doesn't have a WS roster? It wasn't in response to Laika, who posted immediately before you, about how the Rangers pitching staff was always their weakness - where he noted that Montgomery has been super lucky? You either think I'm a moron, or this is a great example of your inability to communicate properly, which leads to a lot of people misunderstanding any point you're trying to make.
  5. Who said otherwise? Laika simply pointed out that his underlying metrics haven't been very good in the playoffs. Most guys rocking a xFIP of 4.51 and a K/9 < 5 aren't able to sustain an ERA under 3.

  7. That all sounds about right. I was hoping for more late inning theatrics from the Rangers bullpen, but it was Arizona's bullpen that blew up in Game 1. Eovaldi is really starting to make a name for himself as a playoff performer. He's a fun guy to watch and cheer for.
  8. Well f*** this. Need the Diamondbacks to win this game to built the drama. Rangers bullpen sucks, but this is a big hill to climb.
  9. Did you find a way to construct your fantasy roster to have the advantage in the playoffs?
  10. Ah yes - that's the obvious example and of course he hits 61 home runs in the first season they moved to 162 games...unreal!
  11. I'm curious if there was a lot of outrage in 1961 when they increased it to 162 games. I suspect the old school people at the time were up in arms because it would screw up the history/records. Not sure we have anyone old enough here to tell us all about it. With no social media, I suspect most of the complaints were expressed at the local coffee shop.
  12. Now that I've stopped playing fantasy football and/or betting on games, I'm having a lot of trouble enjoying a football game. Seems like 'most' games are disappointing and/or not very entertaining. Just flags and commercials. Perhaps I'm just getting old, but I may need to push football aside for a bit - see if I miss it or not. Baseball and basketball are for sure my 2 go-to sports, but I'm gravitating towards hockey now more than football. Anyone else?
  13. Definitely not a good showing. They still appear to be adjusting to a new coach and new PG. It looks like they've handed the keys over to Barnes more this year and he's off to a good start, but Siakam has been terrible. Love the Raps and want to catch a game or 2 this year, but it could be a long one and unless they really suck, they don't have a 1st rounder in next years draft, which is going to hurt.

  15. Doc Halladay?
  16. I don't know man - he was waving him the whole way and threw up the stop sign super late.
  17. That was ball 4 to Moreno. Terrible miss. Changes the whole inning.
  18. Interesting. Maybe I just love baseball too much, but I've been glued to the TV for Game 1 and Game 2. Game 1 was f***ing incredible. You watch playoff baseball, just hoping to see a game like that every few years. Reminded me of the David Freese year. If that was the Jays and Bo hit a 2 run, game tying bomb in the 9th and Vlad walked it off in the 11th, it would go down as one of the best games in Blue Jays history - right up there with Carter's home run, Alomar's home run off Eck, the Bautista Bomb and EE's walk off v. the O's.
  19. That's certainly the competition. I mean baseball is huge in Texas isn't it? Perhaps the costs and travel baseball has changed that demographic though.
  20. I don't know. A huge percentage of American's are rednecks man.
  21. Interesting - as I believe viewership and attendance were both "up" during the regular season.
  22. You've already been inducted into the board's HOF man - it says it right under your name. I'm also in Cooperstown though so take it for what it's worth.
  23. I mean, we already did that when we increased it from 154 to 162 games. I could see going back to 154...

Completely agree. I have no idea why it's taking so long for full cages and neck guards to be mandatory.
  25. He's really inaccurate. Doubt he's the future for the Packers unfortunately - unless they can overhaul his mechanics and make him more accurate like Buffalo did with Allen.
