  1. He looks like a f***ing moron. He's like a puppy dog who wants attention. Barf. Edit - turns out I was probably wrong. This article gives some insight into Manoah - https://torontolife.com/city/the-electrifying-life-of-blue-jays-ace-alek-manoah/ Dad was an abusive alcoholic who went to jails when he was around high school. Sounds like he's always had that chip on his shoulder (fight first, flight never). Seems to just love the attention I guess. Terrible style though IMO.
  2. Front end load his contract - then if he's actually still a stud, he becomes a good trade asset to help the rebuild. Does the luxury tax use AAV? or actual? Could pay him like $50M in 2024/2025 and then he'd only have 6 years $80M left on his deal (assuming the deal is 8 years $180M). If he's a 4 to 5 WAR player in 2024 and 2025, you could trade him before the 2026 season for a haul as he enters his age 30 season. Costs Rogers more today, but may help the franchise long term.
  3. It kind of feels like this is the route to go now. Casuals will be furious though because (they're stupid and) it's not Ohtani and Soto.
  4. Yeah - I don't want Teo at 3 years $50M or anything like that. Duvall or Renfroe on 1 year deals are much better options IMO. I love Teo, but he's a prime candidate to fall off a cliff as soon as this year. If he wants a 1 year $15M deal to play in TO? Welcome back, otherwise, nah.
  5. That's because he's injury prone and is a fulltime DH now. He's a minor league invite guy.
  6. I think there's a strong possibility this happens. I think the Jays would need to be 1000% confident that the changes Belly made last year are sustainable and real before they hand out anything more than a 3 year deal for Belly. If you're really convinced that he's a 4-6 WAR player moving forward, than giddy up. Otherwise, bring in Renfroe or Duvall and save your $$$ for someone with less risk.
  7. I think that plays into what you're willing to pay him. You'd value him as a GG level RFer and if he wants $50M more because he's a solid CFer, then let someone else overpay. The guy has enough red flags as it is. The Jays shouldn't get pressured into overpaying for someone like Belly.
  8. I don't think anyone should pay Margot $10M a year. He should be non-tendered at that price.
  9. That has nothing to do with trying to make your team better.
  10. Why? Why can't Belly go to RF and Springer to LF? I mean unless he insists on playing CF as part of the deal of course.
  11. I don't disagree with this - I'm just saying he wasn't nearly as good last year. He could be the next Shin-soo Choo, which would be really exciting. My mind thought there was a lot more KBO players who have come over with big time numbers, only to fall flat in the majors (typically because their power doesn't translate at all) - but when I Google it - I don't find many good examples. I did find Dae-Ho Lee - he was a beast in the KBO and didn't do much in the majors, but he didn't come over until he was 34 (although he went on to post another couple of good years when he returned to the KBO the following year).
  12. Supporting someone who's offering a service to make some money is bad? I've never taken time to get my shoes shined, but I love a nicely shined shoe.
  13. Not sure you can simply ignore his 2023 season - which wasn't nearly as good at all.
  14. How does the deferred money work against the luxury tax caps?
  15. Yeah I f***ing hate this s***.
  16. Try this new app - it's called YouTube.
  17. I'm probably good with that rotation. Add some s*** ballers to fill out AAA. The issue with White is he has no options and not sure we want him in the bullpen this year?
  18. Bellinger is a fascinating and polarizing FA. On one hand, he seems like a great fit for the Jays. We could really use a legit, dynamic LH bat and we have room to add within our OF. He's entering his age 28 season, so he's younger than most big name FA's, which is a major plus in my mind. And of course, he's someone who's previously shown legit star ability. Unfortunately, his statcast page isn't all that red and there's legitimate concern that his true talent may be more in the 2-4 WAR range, which will only drop as he ages and his speed/defense decline. If the Jays are serious about him, I sure hope they have a good read on what he's going to be moving forward. If he is signing in the same range that Springer did - that could be a solid addition. I think I'd rather have Belly than Chapman for that price.
  19. 5th ranked prospect per Fangraphs.
  20. You can probably add Bregman to that list too...but I agree - none of those guys are on the superstar level (yet) like Ohtani, Betts, Soto, etc. Tucker is the closest.
  21. I'm 6'1 215 and I look like a pretty average dude IMO. You and Grant are Manute Bol and Bol Bol I think. Depending on which one of you is older.
