  1. Joc wanted to play on the west coast. The Jays probably would have had to offer him $20M to come here.
  2. Justin Turner is getting a one-year, $13 million deal from the Blue Jays that includes an extra $1.5 million in bonuses. That’s a pretty good deal for Turner, particularly since the supply seems to exceed the demand for DH-type hitters right now. Of course, it helps Turner’s case that he’s pretty good at first and still playable at third. Sounds like there will be no Jorge Soler. Jays had to flex to get their guy I guess.
  3. Interesting. Very curious if they think he can handle 60-80 games at 3rd or not. The guy is a professional hitter. This is like getting a right handed Michael Brantley (whom most have wanted for years). But he's old as dirt and could fall off the cliff at any moment. Will be interesting to see what he cost us. This is a pretty boring move.
  4. vomit.
  5. Well neither of us know what the offer was - so why speculate about "went hard" means - and then assume it means the Jays offered the same as other teams?
  6. No need to overpay for a 2 WAR DH man. That would be stupid/poor planning.
  7. My apologies. 2 for his last 4590.
  8. I think his 0 for 4586 stretch to end the season may have had an impact on his playing time.
  9. I'm seeing this narrative a lot. What's the concern with this guy? Shape on his fastball?
  10. This is somewhat equivalent to playoff baseball with teams that pull starters early and lean on their bullpen and another example of judging results instead of the process. So easy to blame then when it fails, but they played that aggressive style all season long and it's what helped get them there. It was part of their mindset. If they succeed (which they did a lot this year), they'd have won. You also have to factor in the possibility their kicker misses. Here's an article suggesting he didn't do anything wrong, with numbers to support it - https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/football/news/dan-campbell-did-nothing-wrong It would have been really nice to see Detroit make the Super Bowl. Love seeing new teams get a chance to win it all.
  11. Varsho/KK/Belly in the OF with Springer at DH would be sublime to watch defensively.
  12. That's fair. It's just a fun thing to consider and discuss. Pretty crazy the Spurs already have had 2 of the best big men of all-time and may have a 3rd generational player on their hands.
  13. Curious. 20 years from now, will we consider Wemby to be a better player than Tim Duncan? What about David Robinson?
  14. Perhaps Candelario was the equivalent to Morales this offseason?
  15. I think OKC might be the best team to watch right now in the NBA.

He was a late 2nd round pick. I think most of them fail to have long, productive NHL careers.
  17. He could be referring to the Front Office - still pissed that they sent him down to the minors twice last year (for being useless).

Yes - they are professionals, but none of them are stars. Carter Hart is a career 2.94 GGA, 0.906 SV% goalie. That isn't a 'stud'. Cale Maker and Jordan Kyrou are star players from that roster. The accused are just role players IMO.
  19. I mean - Belly just got $17M last year, coming off a horrendous 83 wRC+ season. Even if he does settle for some 1 year deal, it's almost assured it will be for more than $20M. Almost every team in baseball would want Belly for 1 year $20M this year. Even if he has to settle for a shorter team "prove it" deal, it's most likely to be a multi year deal with opt-outs. I could see something like a 4 year $80M deal with the first year being worth $30M - and there being opt-outs for Belly after year 1. If Belly repeats the 5 WAR season, he takes his $30M and opts out - signing a big deal next winter. If he returns to a 2 WAR player (or flops) then the team is paying him $16.7M annually over the next 3 years - and there is some upside that he'll rebound and provide excess value for those remaining 3 years.
  20. Unforutnately his Dad was an abusive alcoholic who's now in jail - so unfortunately, he could be battling those demons himself. Hopefully he gets the support and help he needs to unlock his full potential.
  21. It's ironic that his brother owns/operates a gym/fitness training place - while his brother is known for being an overweight POS who's career is now in jeopardy.

What's wild about this? We've known this was coming for a long time haven't we? Most of these players suck. It looks like the legit stars from that team are all clean.
