  1. Let's get Ben and Dan together on TV please.
  2. Well that isn't true at all. His wRC+ for 2021/2022 (combined) is <100. He was good with the bat last year, and in 2018/2019. Dude can't run or play any defense. He has to post a wRC+ >120 to be worth having on your team.
  3. Then move the other 3, which would save $11.1M (minus what the replacements make). I actually think that's the move to make. We really do need to get a look at some of the players in the upper minors and have several that could step into the roles of Espinal (Jimenez, Clement, Lantigua, Barger, Orelvis) and Richards/Yimi (Cooke, Brock, Danner, Juenger, Van Eyk, etc.)
  4. Things can change man. All that talk may have been true when the price for Belly was still 6 years $150-$180M and Chapman was 5 years $110M. It certainly appears the market has changed and there's CERTAINLY a possibility that Atkins is reconsidering all options at these new rates - which may include new conversations with Ownership about luxury tax implications.

Says Ryan Reeves, because he can't play hockey.
  6. 2023 all-star pitcher Josiah Gray?
  7. same.
  8. Ironically, fans thought the exact opposite last year. Everyone thought the offense and defense was good, but the pitching as suspect. There's probably a good chance that's what we see this year (despite the fact fans currently think the offense sucks, but the pitching is great).

I agree with everything you just said. It was the angle that "players have missed before trying to guide it in". That isn't false, but that happens like 0.1% of the time and is not justification to slap it in. I think the players need to stop being such snowflakes. So what he slapped it home. That's like getting mad when someone hits a game winning HR and stomps on home plate. That doesn't give anyone the right to try and injure them and cross check them in the face. Control you anger. It is interesting though...we can't even ask players to shake hand after a game anymore - eliminating a long time show of sportsmanship. Then we all act surprised when the younger generation doesn't display sportsmanship on the ice. Reilly 100% deserves a long suspension.
  10. Where is this coming from? Because he put up a stink after being sent down last year? All your other complaints (and the typical ones) are that Manoah is a hot head who likes controversy and is a big talker. You may not realize that he grew up in an abusive household with an alcoholic father who's in jail. The guy's seemingly had a chip on his shoulder his whole life. That's likely to be one of the reasons he's been successful; albeit also a reason why some don't like him. I can certainly appreciate someone like Manoah who's out there trying to break the vicious cycle.
  11. Good point re: gambling...never thought about that angle.
  12. What an incredible finish! So happy for Nick Taylor. What a ride it's been for him. Unfortunately, I think this WM tournament has gotten out of hand and it seems doubtful it will be able to operate like that again. I'm all for having a tournament that's more fun and less stuffy, but f*** me can people ruin a good thing quickly. You can't have people chucking beers at players on the green and yelling in people's swing. Why can't it just be more like the Ryder Cup crowd is?

It is amazing how much hockey brings out the worst in people. As was noted, people do s*** in other sports that are considered "against the unwritten rules" and grown men are typically able to restrain themselves. But not in hockey. Someone pointed out the other day how they had to move the hand shakes in minor hockey to before the game (instead of after) because kids, playing a youth sport, can't control their emotions enough to display sportsmanship AFTER the game. Too many fights while shaking hands that they changed the rules. Did you know in women's hockey, they still shake after the game? We still do for baseball as well. I know I sound like a huge pussy, but I do think that's kind of sad. That all said, I'm a hockey dad who spends copious amounts of time in arenas these days and even just watching it, my blood boils when someone cheap shots a kid - and if it's ever against my kid, it takes everything in my bones not to turn into a raging lunatic. I remember being happy this weekend when #7 got hit from behind in the boards (he was fine - thankfully), because that little prick has been running around trying taking dirty shots at our players all game. That night I spoked a joint and was reflecting on the game - and I felt like such a moron. There's just something about hockey that brings out the absolute worst in people. Reilly deserves a lot of games. He ought to have just dropped the gloves and grabbed him instead.

Couple big swings here Jonn, but you look like Javy Baez swinging at a 58' curveball.
  15. It's the Padres.
  16. He has a right arm and a heartbeat. That is it.
  17. $6.4 AAV. Seems like a reasonable gamble when guys like Wade Miley, Martin Perez, Erick Fedde, Pagan and Alex Wood are all making more. Junis just got 1 yr $7M - he may be a comparable for Yariel, although Yariel likely has much higher upside.
  18. The 4th OF historically still gets like 450 PA's. There is room for Belly, Varsho, KK and Springer in this OF. Especially when you consider Belly crushed LHP last year. I'm optimistic Springer bounces back. I love that guy.
  19. Verdugo sucks hairy balls and Soto is a DH.
  20. The guy can only pitch twice through the lineup and walks 5 per 9. Teams aren't paying for that type of pitcher.
  21. To be fair - if I'm running a league, or own a team in the league, that's probably good image to strive for.
  22. 1000% he is. Again - it's f***ing embarrassing that the MLB arbitration system still acts like it's 1995.
