  1. I believe Bruce Brown has a $23M option for next year also - if the Raps want to keep him. I think he's a valuable trade chip though. Lockdown defender who helps the Nuggs win last year.
  2. I don't think that's an unreasonable amount for an intriguing foreign player who comes with some obvious risk. Ha-Seong Kim's contract was 4 years $28M. But yes, he's not Yamamota obviously. He got more than Yuki Matsui and Shota Imanaga only got $53M guaranteed. He's a swingman, with some upside potential to start.
  3. Alex Gordon is a nice little comp for Varsho isn't he? He was a beast in his age 27-31 years. Let's hope Varsho rounds out his skills and provides even 90% of that production.
  4. IF Manoah bounces back and is a quality, inning eating, back of the rotation starter in 2024 (which is probably the highest probability result), there's probably a good chance he's only as valuable as Varsho was last year, in what most expect to be his "floor" at 2.1 WAR. Bassitt was only worth 2.6 WAR last year, which took 200 innings to accumulate and I think his 2023 season represents one of the best possible outcomes for Manoah in 2024.
  5. Just use the ignore tool man. Guy is a moron. Manoah has a good year in 2022 (4.1 WAR) and is HORRID in 2023 (-0.4 WAR) - "hE'Ll bE FinE, JuST NeEDs tO HIt dA GyM" Varsho has a good year in 2022 (4.8 WAR) and a disappointing, yet still productive 2023 (2.1 WAR) - "gEt hIm OuT tHE liNeUp, DfA hIM, hE'S AwFUl"
  6. or signed him to an extension...
  7. Great history and a f***ton of success over the past 25+ years? Seems like a simple formula.
  8. Massive collapse. They looked unstoppable early in the year.
  9. This is a f***ing weak take man - even for you. It was Dallas at home. Take the L. Packers put on a f***ing clinic. Love looks like he's the real deal. Doubtful it continues, but this season has been a massive W for the Pack. Enjoy the night Spanky!
  10. They must plan on giving him a shot no? They gave up a 2022 2nd round pick to get him (who was coming off a solid season). Isn't Busch really just a DH?
  11. Mayo already brought in to replace Bill Belichick
  12. A full year of Green is an improvement and should more than replace the 0.2 WAR Hicks provided to the Jays last year (and the 0.3 that Green provided himself). Seems highly likely they'll add a DH, who will replace Belt's production. What is ironic is that this time last year, most agreed this was a legit WS contending team. Running it back with a very similar roster seems like a disappointment and failure - but that's almost entirely based on the recency bias of the results of 2023. The reality is that this is still a very good baseball team as is. Yes, some players are year older and that's likely to hurt them a bit - but we're also full of players who are still young and/or entering their prime. Just as you'd expect the old guys to slow a bit, you should also expect the younger players to improve a bit with experience. Would anyone be shocked if we got career years out of Bo, Vlad, Jansen, Biggio, Varsho, Kirk, Espinal, IKF, etc? I certainly wouldn't be (and yes, I understand there are different probabilities of each having a career year). Also - the goal is to be the best team in October - not May. I think we forget that sometimes.
  13. Yeah - we have Mitch White already for that role. Not much to suggest Suter is any better. He was lucky with his HR/FB% last year.
  14. Just stay healthy! He's quite possibly the best defensive CF of all-time. We just need him on the field rocking a 95-105 wRC+ bat.
  15. Here's a snippet from a recent Fangraph's article. • Kevin Kiermaier wants to hit for more power. One thing to watch for? Kiermaier wants to hit for more power, flipping the script after he joked one year ago that his goal was to hit zero home runs and be the best No. 9 hitter in baseball. He believes — and you can see the belief is earnest — that he has another level to unlock. “I’m as motivated as I’ve ever been right now,” Kiermaier said, leaning in to the camera. “I can never sit still. I’ve got this fire in me.” I also found these interesting: • The Dodgers will go with a six-man (or six-day) rotation next year … Whether the Dodgers call it a six-man rotation will depend, most likely, on whether they add another starting pitcher this winter. But it will likely function as a six-man rotation, in terms of affording pitchers extra rest between starts. … I suspect that will continue in 2024, given: 1. Yamamoto’s transition. 2. Tyler Glasnow’s injury history. 3. Walker Buehler’s return from elbow surgery 4. Miller’s youth. So even if the Dodgers don’t officially name six starters, they’ll likely shuttle players like Emmet Sheehan, Michael Grove, Gavin Stone and Landon Knack through the rotation, with some bullpen games and Ryan Yarbrough usage thrown in for good measure. Apparently the Dodgers may hold Buehler out of the rotation to start the year. They want him in October, not April/May.
  16. We basically had IKF playing 3rd for the Jays last year during May, June, August and September. This is just a MUCH cheaper, lower risk status quo move!
  17. I'm pretty sure the direction was to complete for and/or make the playoffs from 2020-2025. To compete beyond that, we're probably going to need to 'hit' on more prospects who are ready to contribute by 2026-2028. Ricky, Orelvis, Nimmala, Barger, Barriera, Watts-Brown, Bonilla, Roden. There are some high upside players in there and while the margin for error is getting tighter for sure, it's not completely hopeless. If we move Vlad or Bo before they hit free agency, we might be able to increase our chances (although that may also decrease our ability to win in 2025).
  18. They did buyout Bo's last arb years, but that's not really an extension. I mean - who would have you have wanted them to have extended? I'm pretty happy they haven't extended Vlad, Kirk, Manoah or Espinal. The only one I think you'd consider it with would be Bo - and it seems very clear he has no interest in an extension. I guess you could extend Jansen and/or Romano, but both come with risk (depending on the duration/price). I know this will shock most, but I actually think the FO deserves credit here for not extending players too early.
  19. It's about f***ing time you took notice. Rumor has it that Term is polishing up my Assistant Sheriff badge as we speak.
  20. Super encouraging to see how efficient Barrett has been so far. New life in his career perhaps. Hope it continues.
  21. Offseason isn't over yet and I'm not sure that's true - but thanks for your opinion Dick.
  22. You have to love Darko's passion.
