  1. He actually hasn't been pretty damn good v. LHP over the last few years. 2021 - 95 wRC+ 2022 - 116 wRC+ 2023 - 111 wRC+ Solid - but not spectacular. But yes, if you want slightly more offense, that arrangement would work find. Of course that would mean Votto/Voggy can't be on the roster (which may be fine). Anyway - he projects to be a league average bat (100 wRC+). If he wanted to sign for $1-2M - sure, but it seems doubtful he does.
  2. Even if he's Mr. Rogers in the clubhouse, he's been a league average bat over the past 4 seasons and projects to be one again this year, without providing much defense. He isn't the big power bat everyone wants. Statcast page looks sexy, but there's probably a reason he's unsigned. Maybe he's holding out for big money - waiting for an injury? Who knows. Point is - he's still available! Do you guys want him taking at bats away from Babe Schneider or Clement?
  3. Yeah it does! Well 2023 does. She's a little colder in 2022. It is interesting he's still unsigned and that his results don't seem to match the statcast page. Perhaps teams know something we don't.
  4. That's fair - I don't. But I do know that since 2020, he's a .238/.325/.392 99 wRC+ hitter who doesn't play good defense. Now at age 36, I'm not sure I'd want him on the team taking at bats away from many other players on this team (on in our farm system).
  5. Pham's still available I believe. Likely in part because he's a POS.
  6. Just can't help yourself eh? Senior Wet Blanket
  7. I've been busy all weekend watching my 3 boys compete in the OMHA Championships. What have I missed? Let me guess - this place a burning pile of steaming s*** the past 2 days with the typical dipshits losing their minds - most of whom have disappeared today?
  8. It's a 1-1 game. Perhaps the doomsday crew could just STFU a hair more? These clowns have the emotional intelligence of a doorknob.
  9. 12 minutes into the season and the GDT is insufferable. It's almost like Eflin is a good pitcher?
  10. Just 162 more games of bitching and whining to go!
  11. Yeah we're making the playoffs far too often. He's make the rest of the guys look bad.
  12. It's just to break up the lefties. Kirk projects to be a 121 wRC+ hitter and he's batting 6th. The Dodgers 6th hitter only projects to hit 108 wRC+ (just a couple of points above what Varsho projects to hit). Hope that helps.
  13. Yeah I just wanted to add in the roster crunch component. There are a lot more Zulu's hitting waivers these days then there have been in previous years.
  14. There's a chance. Remember there's a huge roster crunch around the league right now. That factor might allow him to clear waivers - but even if he doesn't, it means there will likely be other interesting arms like Zulu available throughout the year.
  15. I don't understand this thinking. List of 2025 FA's Soto Goldschmidt Alonso Bregman Burnes Max Fried Bieber These star players are all heading into their final season before free agency without an extension. Are all these GM's massive failures too?

What's really interesting is that Hasek is actually 1 year older than Roy. I certainly acknowledge that the league wide SV% was much lower in the late 80's, when Roy was well ahead of the league - but that's when Hasek was still playing in Czech. As soon as Hasek became an NHL starter, he blew away Roy in the same era and then continued to play for another 4 seasons after Roy retired. Jacques Plante isn't someone I really knew a lot about (I don't follow the history of hockey like I do baseball). Crazy that his two 0.940+ SV% years were after the age of 40 after taking 3 years off hockey! Dryden is like the Sandy Koufax of baseball eh? Crazy he retired so early. Perhaps this isn't as cut and dry as I expected. Interesting debate gentlemen. Also worth noting that when I do go back and look at old stats, I can't help but be reminded of how good Orr was and how interesting it would have been if he stayed healthy for a 20 year career. Career over at age 26 is insane.
  17. Spot on. I was going to call out him out last night myself, but I feel like I've been banging that drum a bit too much. Thank you.
  18. That is cool. I didn't catch that either. Even diehard baseball fans struggle to keep up with what's happening in Oakland these days.
  19. you're back? how disappointing.
  20. MLB Owners have unanimously approved the sale of the Baltimore Orioles to David Rubenstein for a reported $1.725 Billion. Apparently this guy is worth $3.9B
  21. Yankees reportedly acquired Jon Berti from the Marlins in exchange for prospect John Cruz, according to The Athletic’s Chris Kirschner. The 34-year-old utility player could slide in to take over third base duties with DJ LeMahieu sidelined with a foot injury. Berti slashed .294/.344/.405 across a career-high 424 plate appearances with the Marlins last season and is on the second year of a two-year contract.
  22. Will Smith and the Dodgers are finalizing a 10-year, $140 million extension, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
  23. who's got the GDT for tomorrow? Can't f*** this up.

What's crazy is that Hasek didn't become a starting goalie until he was 29 years old and played until he was 43, finishing his career with a SV% of 0.922 (0.010-0.012 higher than Roy and Brodeur). Dom was posting SV% between 0.920 and 0.937 at the same time that Roy was between 0.894 and 0.923 (typically in the 0.910 range). IMO, Brodeur was a product of their defensive system. Interesting debate. For me, it's Dom by a landslide. I think if Dom is in America and starting in his early 20's like Roy/Brodeur were, it's not contest.
