  1. This should be expected. Almost anytime a team loses a big game, there are going to be a cohort of fans losing their minds with incoherent opinions. I mean - just go back and look at the GDT's on this board. It happens almost daily.
  2. I'm obviously being facetious. You can't point to 2024 numbers to judge a 2023 trade of an impending FA. And even if you did - it would still generally be viewed as a lateral move. Re-hashing this trade following the 2024 season is as dumb as suggesting we never should have traded Grichuk because he hit well this year.
  3. I'm sorry man, but you really have no idea if any of this is true. You have no idea who helped fix Vlad (or who broke him in the first place). You're also seemingly ignoring the fact that pitchers adjust after they have a couple of months worth of data on a hitter. We get a 127 wRC+ season from a 26 year old Horwitz and you're suggesting the coaching staff is to blame because he didn't post a 150 wRC+? C'mon.
  4. #1 offense to boot. 27th in team ERA though...
  5. Grichuk just posted a career high wRC+ too - never should have traded him either. Just brilliant!
  6. I mean - that's not how the playoffs really work, but I get it. Would you rather we didn't make the playoffs? You want to see them rebuild now instead? I do think a rebuild now is the best path to future success, but I've come to accept it's complicated given the reno's and the status of Shatkins and I suspect we're going to spend and try to compete in 2025. I also wonder - if we throw in the towel now and start rebuilding, what does that do to our chances of signing Vlad (and/or Bo?) to extensions. If rebuilding now means you have to trade Vlad and Bo - do you still think that's the right direction? It's an interesting debate.
  7. I'm sure LA could have had Teo for 2-3 years at a lower AAV if they wanted...I'm sure several other teams could have also. It's almost like there was some uncertainty within the league on whether Teo was declining or not. Like there was a probability he wasn't going to rebound for him poor 2023 season.
  8. What's your point or goal with this? Commenting on what he did in 2024, after he became a FA and signed with another team has nothing to do with the Seattle deal. Are you trying to suggest that if the Jays kept him 2023, he would have had as good of a season as he did this year (3.5 WAR) and that's why you think this trade was a disaster? The Jays used the money they would have paid Teo to sign KK, who gave us a 2.8 WAR season. So even if that's your point, this isn't some slam dunk, franchise altering disaster of a trade. In hindsight, sure, maybe keeping Teo was a better call, but it's not like he traded away Yordan or Tatis Jr. I mean - we get it. You hate Atkins. He does nothing right. You'll probably hate the next GM too and the guy after that. Are you back trying to dunk on those who don't think he's a Dave Stewart level GM? Does that get you off? Or are you just trying to be a troll and trigger people - which is always such a cool look.
  9. Shame he fell short.
  10. Why would I be in shambles? The Braves are one of my favorite NL teams and I'm a huge supporter of AA.
  11. How much will Adames cost and how much cheaper would Kim be? Adames had a MONSTER season at the perfect time. Same age as Kim. He's a better fit, given his power profile. I could see Kim getting like 4-5 years at $20M AAV. I think Adames has played himself into a 6 year deal at $22M-$25M AAV.
  12. O's are shutting down Grayson for the year. That hurts. Yordan is done for the rest of the regular season. Wonder if they can get him healthy enough for the playoffs.
  13. What are you talking about? You made an empty claim and a couple of people called you out on it and asked for receipts. Instead of providing them, you're just going to ignore it and shrug it off like you just wanted to trigger people, while sticking to your claim that what you claimed was fact? That's just sad. Is Trump your idol?
  14. Nobody should be making these types of bold claims when they know f*** all about the logistics associated with such a decision.
  15. Beats me. If the Mets still view him as a top prospect, I'd move on to another target.
  16. Because of unwritten rules. I think it's insane to complain about a bunt in the 7th inning of a perfect game, down 2-0. I could see the argument if it was the 9th.
  17. Yeah - I agree with that. Hopefully they can get creative. Trade for Brett Baty.
  18. 100% That franchise deserves better.
  19. Vlad, Bo, Wagner, Horwitz would be one of the worst defensive infields in the MLB and in Blue Jays history. Just sayin' (not that I really want Clement to be our starting 3rd baseman).
  20. Vlad and/or Barger. I don't think the team should give up on Barger yet.
  21. I'd agree with this. I can definitely see it from the players perspective though and feeling cheated by the Pirates. Man - I wish someone awesome would buy that team and change their fortunes.
  22. I don't think cutting him months ago (which would have been completely reasonable) makes it any better. The only thing that makes it worse is some false sense of security that he was going to get that $200K. I hope he didn't already order the pool!
  23. I don't agree with Billionaires to start with, and typically support the players in terms of gaining performance bonuses. But in his particular case, despite loving Rowdy the person, I'm with metafour.
  24. Based on actual results this year - he's been a very solid pitcher for the Blue Jays. However, by all indications, he's been very lucky to achieve those results this year. All the advanced metrics suggest it's not sustainable, which is why no one was overly surprised by his recent struggles. Am I concerned with what he'll be moving forward? Obviously I am. The good news is pitchers are volatile from year to year and his Stuff + is still good. With a few tweaks this offseason, there's a possibility he'll be more effective next year. There's also a possibility his struggles will continue and he won't be as lucky next year. Time will tell.
  25. to be fair - Rowdy hasn't earned that extra money this year...
