  1. Smyly's had this game on the table for two straight innings and the hitters refuse to accept it. Not even a ball out of the infield.
  2. Jays got this game. Rays won't be able to hold it down. 65+ losses for a reason.
  3. Pretty difficult to justify Smoak's place on the roster. Can't hit and isn't an especially impressive fielder.
  4. Offense has been putrid. This stretch could easily be a losing streak, but they're somehow 5-3 since the roadtrip. Good teams find ways to win, right guys?
  5. They definitely had the pressure on, but I'd have taken a solo home run from Jose instead of that.
  6. It was totally clean. And I was one of the guys who ripped Jose's grabby hands stunt against Forsythe back in April.
  7. Perhaps the blistering offense keeps games so close that the only possible way to lose -- by a single run -- happens more frequently than for other teams. It's possible other managers are better (or luckier) tacticians in close games, but there a few other plausible explanations here than Gibby just being worse than his peers. Maybe optimizing his offensive output by hitting JD second for so long added that extra run scoring likelihood to turn many two-run games into one-run games. As for replay record -- that's dumb. It's so circumstantial and is he is at the mercy of not only the ump decisions but the eagle eyes of the TV team advising him.
  8. Secret hero of the game. Got some help from some boneheaded baserunning but even if a guy came in it would have been a decent houdini job.
  9. Double switch with Barney taking Thole's slot and going to LF?
  10. What a gift of an inning. Jays need to step up here. This one is theirs for the taking.
  11. One batter too late despite Dickey basically feeling out the zone all game. Pretty obvious how likely that was going to go south.
  12. It's kind of impressive that it's a SB attempt that puts Pillar out instead of the hundred possible fractures and concussions he's somehow avoided while playing like a wrecking ball in the OF. We're going to miss Superman, I predict.
  13. I think there's also the ever-present Smoak factor. The guy has been embarrassing at the plate, so a DH rotation featuring the four OFs might still be the more productive arrangement.
  14. There have been some stubborn double-downs on this forum, but I honestly can't think of a more stupid and pointless first-worldism than ripping on an out of region amber alert that briefly interrupts the year's 111th Blue Jay game.

  16. Perhaps someday someone will make a statue of you for dying on this hill, for taking a stand when no one else would.
  17. Blue Jays Message Board: where grown men complain openly about amber alerts momentarily interrupting their entertainment. Hard to defend this place sometimes.
  18. Super clutch by Happ. Astros fans must be raging right now.
  19. Or maybe, "we're on a losing streak - let's skip Dickey. Hey R.A., sit the f*** down. Aaron's going instead."
  20. John Gibbons: Ey Rossy. We're talkin' about maybe keeping Sanchy in the rotation, right? Ross Atkins: http://www.reactiongifs.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/wrong.gif
  21. Going to be honest -- I don't have any desire to watch two or three national super teams destroy their competition. Major League Baseball is so much more interesting, fun, and competitive than anything the Olympics could produce. Maybe if there were more parity, as in soccer or even hockey, but baseball doesn't have nearly the global representation of those sports.
  22. Yeah, giving your circus starter the most of the remaining starts to keep your good ones healthy is not exactly optimizing a playoff run. Innings maintenance and WINNING are sort of at odds.
  23. This is silly logic. Not following doctors' orders would probably result in way, way more injuries than we see now.
  24. "Gibby, Sanchez is going to the bullpen, full stop. Stop telling the media otherwise. I can't believe I had to fly down here to make this clear to you. Answer your damn phone. I'm your boss."
