  1. But fatigue is not an injury, though. I'm sure they're watching him for fatigue, but until you post some of the credible evidence of varying opinions you looked up a few years ago I'd still rather leave it up to the medical professionals.
  2. This wok-like post from Barry Davis:
  3. I'm saying that just because guys keep getting hurt doesn't mean limiting innings for young pitchers is flawed practice. If the medical professionals believe workload increase correlates with injury, then it's just as easy to say that these methods are preventing further injuries than the ones we're already seeing. Your attitude seems to be that since guys are getting injured, and since we can't pinpoint why, that we might as well throw any medical caution into the wind. The come what may attitude is irresponsible.
  4. "Let him start unless he becomes absolutely gassed"? That's what they're doing anyway. I also trust the medical experts on this over some message board speculation. If they have reason to believe that huge jumps in workload increase the risk of injury, they need to make their decisions based on that info. "MLB pitchers getting injured more often than ever" is a huge blanket statement that really doesn't say anything specific.
  5. It's not only Gibby's decision. It's also a potenrial health concern. Aaron's workload has exploded compared to his last two years. He's on pace for far more innings than he's ever done. As for Thole: he has a unique skill that no other backup C reliably has. Unless Dickey goes, Thole is staying. A backup C is by no means a make or break move anyway, as much as it admittedly hurts to watch Thole play.
  6. Sanchez is going to the pen. No need to address the pen. What catcher would need to be upgraded? Martin doesn't deserve to lose his job and, like it or not, Thole is the only guy who can catch one of the team's SPs.
  7. Zeke is basically in Junior Lake's position from yesterday: suddenly the fifth OF. He's the most expendable piece at this point.
  8. Yeah, I'm okay with a DH rotation between Jose, Edwin, and Saunders. Smoak gets to be late inning defence or a PH. Spot starts here and there too. Pillar can also get a day off or two without us having to watch Zeke tumble around CF. Apparently the Padres are eating a lot of cash too, but no numbers yet.
  9. I remember a couple of years ago when Ichiro went to the Yankees WHILE the Yankees were visiting Seattle. I imagine some fans showed up to the park to see Ichiro come out in pinstripes and were like 'wat'.
  10. FYKMA Some shite hitting tonight for the most part.
  11. He got bombed in that one start against Oakland. "Blowing" the lead in the ninth going for a CGSO against Detroit too. But that's it, I think. I don't recall either being the result of a complete loss of control though.
  12. Bizarre hit by Travis. That's about the third time I've seen that from him this year.
  13. The last series is @ Fenway? Could be legendary.
  14. Is this the first time the whole crew has started a game together? Even dating back to last year's deadline. I honestly think it is.
  15. My girlfriend and I were at the great comeback vs. the Red Sox. Storen came in during the deficit and gave up a lead off double and her and I just made fun of his numbers for the next 10 minutes while he worked out of the jam. Turns out that run would have been the difference, so I guess we were the *******s? That's about all I can say positive about Storen, unfortunately. His slider is dirty as hell when he's having a competent outing though.
  16. There would still be more control, though. Neither could end up being worth it, but I was skeptical of the move then and I haven't changed my mind at all now. I'll admit that nobody foresaw Sanchez's breakout, so Chavez had a more versatile projected role back in November. I remember a lot of posters being very skeptical as well.
  17. Swinging bunt, two straight HBPs, and a two-strike grand slam.
  18. To the Twins no less. Honestly that's as good as a Jays win. Is Farrell being crucified by the media yet?
  19. Ump pulls the worst call of the night on the last batter. Brutal.
  20. This is the perfect nickname considering the general opinion of him around here. I'm stunned that none of us came up with it already.
  21. Hanging out for too long in a steaming room with other naked men, Martin admits that his injury is a direct result of trying to apply "going the other way" to other facets of his life.
  22. Short-sighted. What if Thole gets hurt?
  23. Versatility. The team's starting catcher should be able to work as seamlessly as possible with one of the team's starter pitchers considering the volatility of the pitch in question. More options are better than fewer options. But like I said, it's probably just wishful thinking on my part.
  24. Perhaps some wishful thinking, but maybe Martin is going to get a Dickey start tomorrow? If a playoff run is in the cards I don't want Thole anywhere near the starting lineup. I've been not-so-secretly hoping that Martin would eventually start catching Dickey to shake the rust off.
  25. He is a pretty good posterboy for clickbait journalism in baseball circles. I've stopped clicking on anything he's written. #TeamKen
