  1. Stroman is chucking some serious hangers. Edit: Finally gets the sharp break to K Castro.
  2. Kinda unlucky with the errors, though. Bregman and Correa should have both been out.
  3. This game is like a 2016 highlight reel of everyone's worst ABs.
  4. Stroman's worst enemy is himself. So easy to dislike him.
  5. Anybody can pop out. Not just anybody has a ~1.000 OPS.
  6. It's smart for the team's best player to concede his AB so Travis doesn't have to run as hard to score on a simple single? And against a shitballer no less?
  7. What a fail of an inning. After a lead off double JD sac bunts and EE and Russell K looking. Swing the bats and just trash Fiers. Talk about overthinking s***.
  8. Agreed. Fiers is throwing meatballs but Josh played him like he was facing Jake Arrieta or something.
  9. The best hitter on the team gave himself up to put a RISP in better SP. Then he didn't even run down the line. A complete waste after Fiers hadn't shown himself to be unhittable. And then EE goes down without a fight. A complete squander.
  10. Really, really stupid by Josh. What the hell.
  11. I don't get the reliever idea. Is there some reason to believe he can bring a more reliable knuckleball in shorter stints in the way that regular arms can throw at a higher velocity if they're only going for 30 pitches max? Seems to me you'd want a surer thing coming out of the pen than a knuckleball. I'd also argue that if Dickey isn't devouring 190+ innings per year, he doesn't bring much to the table. Any other mop up guy could probably do this job, and without a personal catcher too.
  12. Russell just brung it. He brung the ruckus to that ass.
  13. Should be bases loaded on the walk, yeah.
  14. Wow. He gives McHugh that horseshit and doesn't give that to Sanchez. It was the right call but wow, the eagle eye goes one way. Wow
  15. Say what you will about the Royals, but not striking out is a pretty good trait. Upton was just putrid there. Completely hittable pitches that he just whiffed on.
  16. Not to mention he'll probably only be looking at legit contenders too. Dude wants to win. Objectively, I think the Jays are a good fit for him as a DH/backup OF. Not the only good fit though, and there will obviously be emotional baggage dealing with the employer he was needling in the media this past offseason.
  17. I have sadly only been to three this year and three last year. Funny how I go to fewer games during good years. Last year I saw a September game v. O's, Price's last regular season start v. Rays, and ALCS Game 3. This year I've seen the A's, Rays, and that ridiculous comeback win again the Sox in May. I might try to go this weekend. I also want to see the Angels when they come. Never seen Trout live before.
  18. No, my comment is based on the fact that some posters who are saying these are primarily age-related injuries. Stroman basically died last year twisting his knee while fielding a bunt. I'd argue that his performance this year is the big red flag against signing him long-term for big money. These specific injuries are just weird accidents and could happen to any fielder though. (The throwing arm problem is legit, though.)
  19. In fairness, I'm not seeing how age is the primary factor in Jose smashing his foot on the OF wall in an unfamiliar park and then twisting his knee when a cleat gets caught in the Rogers Centre rug. He's no use in the OF anymore but these two injuries aren't reserved for old guys.
  20. He's a terrible major leaguer, so I don't think it matters all that much. They're basically working with OFs #5 and 6 right now. Now that I think of it, it might be worth bringing up Pompey though. LTBF might be right that he could provide more help than having Lake as OF4 and continuing to give Smoak ABs.
  21. Pompey hasn't proven anything. Go with the hot hand before September. The playoff race is as tight as it could possibly be. Pompey can play around in the Try league next year.
  22. Gotta be a tweak or something. He had the decisive hit on Monday and missed a home run by inches yesterday. He's not that much worse than anyone else has been during the team-wide hitting slump.
