    The pizza party GDT was when I realized I love you all like brothers (and one sister; vdub should earn an award for easiest vote sweep). We need to do one GDT per month like that, but themed differently. Chinese takeout GDT, Subway GDT, etc.

    I like Pendleton's idea about the cross field platoon starring Bautista. I think that's a pretty efficient way to mitigate the effect of his declining OF skills but also take advantage of what remains of his ability to just be a warm body in the outfield.

    I generally stay out of the high school girl yearbook threads like this, but I have to say that I'm genuinely surprised you think I'm the nicest guy here, Jim. We've gotten into some severe disagreements at times. I suppose I've just never let my frustration be all that apparent. Cheers.

    Yes, please. Sweating in a warehouse is not my ideal state of comfort at a professional baseball game. I rarely go to early season games for this reason. Baseball is best experienced outside live or at home on TV.

    Who is a better fit? Bautista? Yeah, maybe. He can at least give you some OF reps in a pinch.

    On a Morales and EE tandem: I like Atkins but this seems an iffy thing to say. I'd prefer to see the context, but EE is a 35-40 HR and .350 OBP rock. Unless you don't think he's that guy anymore, using this as a semi-argument against bringing him back kind of makes me sneer.

    This becomes even more viable if the season ultimately shortens to 145 games or whatever they were discussing. Could be bad news for the borderline rotation guys though.

    What is the current version of the Doc trade anyway? It was a third of the price for four years of Dickey and Thole + Devon Travis

    Dude, "stung" not "stunned". It stung to see my favourite guy leave the team even if it was inevitable. It'll sting seeing EE wearing orange too if Houston lands him even if they offer him an unmatchable deal.

    Doc getting traded stung for me too. I barely watched baseball in 2010 and Doc being gone was a small factor.

    Have two more beloved players ever walked away from the same Toronto franchise like JB and EE might? I think Shatkins' names aren't worth dirt among a lot of fans if it happens, unless/until a World Series happens in the next couple of years.

    He rattled his sword at the FO and lost enormously. I agree that Bautista might not even be considering Toronto because of this. Then again, Jose seems intelligent and rational to me, so who knows if he'll turn down a potential good deal on that alone.

    The FO would be on the hook for 20M per year well past his 40yo season... and for a guy who looked at times this year like he was playing in slo mo compared to even the prior year. I still want him back though. But the FO didn't crumble to the public negotiating pressure, which is good.

    It's possible the competitive window on this core is closing. As much as I am fascinated by Thames I also don't blame the FO for not wanting to offer money on such a wild card (if that was the rationale, who knows). Maybe they're pretty confident some larger money deals get done for known commodities.

    Game 1 of 2016, Archer vs Stroman. Jays load the bases with no outs in the third and don't score with three straight weakly hit balls. This is a pretty good game. EDIT: An I lose on a walk-off walk to Brad Miller. Storen puts two on, then Osuna walks the next two on eight straight (!!!). Is there a problem in the clubhouse? Should I be fired as manager? I did turn on easy mode and give myself, a completely unqualified nobody, the job of managing a contending major league baseball team. We'll let it play out though. We'll battle. We'll see how it goes. We won't jump to any conclusions. Just gonna keep going out there and grind and good things will happen.
