  1. This is the stupidest game in a long time.
  2. lolHouston
  3. The Blair quote is so vague you can probably just dismiss it. Everyone is probably in play. Everyone is probably talking to everyone about everyone.
  4. I'm sure Nats fans aren't over 2012 NLDS Game 5. It was 1 AB, dude. Not to mention Ben kind of got jobbed.
  5. If the team is going to give the most PAs to someone who isn't the elite four, Travis is a pretty good option as long as he can maintain a reasonable amount of the production from his half-year of big league experience.
  6. Well if the team is unwilling to put Tulo or another non-traditional option in the lead off spot then they have created a hole. I get your complaint, though, that Shi of all people shouldn't be falling into that narrow mindset. Normally I like Shi a lot.
  7. I completely forgot about Junior Lake. Shapatkins really have picked up lots of little pieces, haven't they?
  8. I'd be surprised. Dude can't play the outfield.
  9. Tuck your shirt in, junior.
  10. I kind of undermined my own point earlier in the thread with my badly written last post, but what I meant to say was that there should be no defensible reason to not vote Griffey. The HOF system sucks and should never incentivize not voting for a first-balloter. As it is, the system does, but I think the non-votes should make a statement. I'd like to think it was a strategic reasons but you can never rule out stubbornness/statement votes. Eric Sogard - second-ballot HOFer.
  11. Even if you're self righteous about PED use about Bonds and co. there's no defensible reason to not vote Griffey. An omission like that deserves every form of ridicule. As far as I'm concerned if you want to be a chud about Bonds, etc., at least that's a reason. Why no Griffey, though? Speak up, boy.
  12. Probably strategic voters trying to get some other guys in. Can't imagine any not voting for Griffey, unless they have idiotic chips on their shoulders about how if x didn't get in on first ballot then neither should y.
  13. I couldn't see the full title of the thread from the main page link, but I eagerly clicked it thinking "Jays in talks with who? who??" and now I'm trying really hard to think of a name more disappointing than the one it turned out being.
  14. If Jays games were available to watch I'd straight up cancel my cable. Like I'd call Rogers right now. But the nice thing about MLBtv is the Free Game of the Day feature for non-subscribers. It's a great way to learn more about teams I wouldn't normally watch if I had access to all 15 of that day's games.
  15. Yankee pen is going to be stupidly good. AL East is going to be an absolute dogfight. Seems a bit of a waste to burn so many pieces for an upcoming FA, but for 2016 it'll mean Yankee opponents will have one-third of a game in which scoring is impossible.
  16. I don't think picking up depth should have any bearing on future "big" moves. Depth claims are nice insurance in almost every case and a shrewd org will try to do as much as they can to smooth over any potential roster pot holes. I wouldn't pass up a minor league contract for Fausto Carmona just because I had a line on Jacob deGrom or something. I like all of these grabs too FWIW.
  17. f*** I hate the Twins. They're like flat soda.
  18. Answering the initial question: I'd probably take five from the NLC over five from just the Cubs: Bryant and Rizzo would be killer if you go with the Cubs, but going with Votto and Cutch is probably just as effective since it opens up a tandem of Arrieta + Wainwright (assuming health). Obvious Brewer is Braun. The Cubs are f***ing good but I don't think so good that I wouldn't prefer the superstars from their four rivals. Votto replaces Smoakabello. McCutcheon replaces Pillar (sorry Kevin). Wainwright and Arrieta replace Dickey and uh... Happ? Braun replaces Revere. The rest of the offensive Blue Jay studs remain. Easy. IMO it comes down to not wanting to neutralize top-tier 3B value by making a logjam with JD-Bryant.
  19. I'm flattered that so many posters have enjoyed my contributions to this forum, but I'm amused that I've managed to do it while posting next to nothing about actual baseball. Be sure that as the resident ROY I'll do everything I can to earn next year's Eric Hinske award.
  20. Holy s***, the Cubs. Wow. Just saw this. What a strong team they'll have in 2016.
  21. Hoooooly http://tse4.mm.bing.net/th?id=OIP.M5f5a84fdae93347e89c3d04a648d53abo0&pid=15.1
  22. After straight up asking her weight too. Stunning.
  23. True story: once my girlfriend hovered over me while I was browsing the boards and cracked up at your username. Ever since then if I mention I'm reading the Blue Jays boards she asks "is Spanky still around?"
