  1. Called it yesterday:
  2. Well there that goes.
  3. Just listening on the audio feed but it's very possible that this is one of the last times Brad Penny stands on a mound.
  4. It seems interesting to me too. A lot of people seem to dislike Buck. I think it mostly comes down to having to hear him so many times a year. No one can be interesting for three hours a night for 160 nights, so he naturally repeats stories and leans on cliches, etc. Being interesting is hard, and all the downtime in a baseball game means a broadcaster has a lot of time to fill. I'm still interested to hear from Buck if his book is an actual opportunity to for him to say something interesting about the baseball industry. The "Moneyball" name-drop is just a name-drop. "Remember that other popular book about baseball, starring Brad Pitt?"
  5. I skimmed the headlines and grabbed him in #LoD. I'm an easy sale.
  6. I believe that trade was made before the team grabbed Happ. Not sure if the negotiations ran concurrently (they probably did). Looked like a defensible move at the time, but I still wasn't hot on losing four years of Hendriks for a year of swingman/SP4. Chavez will be valuable to the team over the season, but I'm still not sure he was worth it. Not saying he should get a rotation spot because of optics. It's really just that I thought the move was wasteful then and that my opinion hasn't really changed. The FO probably views 2016 as a sort of "one-year" window before re-tooling for 2017 and on. One could argue that losing Hendriks was worth fortifying some more innings for the team, especially with a rotation that can only realistically be described as adequate - all right. I'm not sure I disagree. This trade is kind of grey.
  7. So what are the SP5 sentiments so far? I haven't seen all the games but the vibe I get around the internet is Floyd/Sanchez > Chavez > Hutch. How was Storen today? Last time I saw him he was iffy but brute forced himself through a scoreless inning.
  8. I'm really hoping he can perform. I think he's a solid piece when he's on. Sounds like he's probably in third or fourth for the SP5 race at this point, though...
  9. Not me. Barney can glove it better. Not looking forward to a no-JD lineup though. Gonna suck seeing Barney at 3B in mid-May when Josh tears his achilles.
  10. Yeah, the Jays have three 1Bs at this point. Which reminds me... Who is slated to be JD's backup? Dominguez? Barney?
  11. I was mostly asleep on my couch while this was on, but when I actually had my eyes open it looked like both Sanchez and Floyd were genuinely good today (against the Rays tryouts). True? False?
  12. I think I've looked at reddit a grand total of eight or nine times. Is the Jays reddit worth following?
  13. What? Atkins literally just picked up one more option to back up the big club. If Choate sucks he doesn't even see Toronto, so nothing is lost.

  15. Buck and Joe talking about last year's ALCS. Still can't believe that happened. Feels like a dream or something.
  16. Someone with two cats, the day to himself, and a living room that hasn't been vacuumed in a week?
  17. Yeah, he looks good. I'm cleaning my place while I watch it. I sit down for Stroman. Couldn't care less about the hitters today, start vacuuming.
  18. He likely is the best pitcher by a wide margin, though. Whether he has some sophomore implosion remains to be seen, but he's pretty plainly the most reliably dominant starting arm on the squad. If his spot is uncertain then all five spots should be uncertain.
  19. I lost the feed. Did Goins get injured on a HBP?
  20. I don't think he's even reported to camp yet. Not sure why. Maybe visa s***.
  21. News, complete with a source:
  22. Pisses me off. No justification for putting such a poor foot forward, regardless of how "little" the negative impact will be.
  23. I've been to New York so many times and not once have I attended a game at Shea Stadium, Citi Field, or old or new Yankee Stadium. I'm an embarrassment. The only stadium I've ever seen a game at is SkyDome/RC. One time I passed by Kauffman in the winter.
  24. Okay and plenty of times the minor wear and tear and day-to-day diagnoses are just minor and day-to-day, just as described. Can you tell us what was actually said instead of prefacing breaking news with your sensational projections?
