  1. Would have sucked to lose that game, glad they were able to finish the sweep. Finally over .500 again.
  2. Yeah this loss (if it ends up a loss) will be on Hoffman. I joke about JS loving to use as many relievers as possible, and it's not even that much of a joke as I think he legitimately gets high off that, but this one wasn't on him. If Hoffman does his job then it's not even a discussion.
  3. The Jays use every reliever in the pen (JS about to smoke a cigar after the game just for that) with TBD as tomorrow's starter. Not ideal. Hopefully Lauer can eat some innings tomorrow night.
  4. Clase, Straw, and Heineman due up in the bottom of the 10th. Hopefully Springer and Kirk will be used as pinch hitters. Need Little to hold them here though.
  5. The Baseball God's don't want the Jays to get over .500.
  6. Why bunt with Straw when Clase already got into scoring position and is super fast?
  7. Barger being a good hitter and (more impressively) a good fielder at 3B is a massive development for the Jays.
  8. Taking Rodriguez out is fine as he was closing in on 30 pitches, but Fluharty could have finished this inning, IMO. Or at least give him a shot to. Green sucks.
  9. A fresh bullpen is like sex to John Schneider. He'll use every arm left in the pen except Urena.
  10. Francis is infuriating to watch this season because you know he's giving up 2-3 home runs even when he's pitching "well". Unfortunately they don't have any other options to replace him.
  11. The Padres have actually hit less home runs than the Jays this season, so hopefully Francis can keep the ball in the park today, but 14 home runs allowed in 46 innings for Francis on the year, so it may not matter who the opponent is.
  12. Jays winning a laugher. Nice. Better let Urena finish it.
  13. I have to apologize to Charlie Buntoyo, as it clearly wasn’t him obsessed with bunting. It is the org.
  14. Yeah say what you want about Shatkins, but they started spending as soon as Vlad and Bo came up. What the FO lacked in player development, they made up for with FA signings and trades. Of course, Elias is a lot better on the player development side, but clearly not on the pitching end, and that's where they needed to invest heavily. The Jays did that and got some good seasons out of it despite their two stars collectively (more so Vlad) not living up to the hype most of the time. The O's not spending on SP the last two years was a major fumble.
  15. As long as he continues to be a FIP beater, then he'll have value, but those two player options in '27 and '28 are brutal. Essentially 2/50 for Tanner Roark (pre-Jays).
  16. Yeah that was a reputation walk. They were probably better off pitching to Tony given how bad he’s been. Good piece of hitting by Clement. Frustrating game in general, but very typical 2023-25 game for this team. At least they got the W.
  17. Myles Straw pinch hitting for the only hitting prospect the Jays have developed in 5 years that looks like he might actually stick. I'm tapping out.
  18. Orioles down 6-0 in the top of the 1st and the Nats are still batting. Brandon Hyde dragging this team down even when he's sitting at home.
  19. Why was Lauer pulled after 3 IP/40 pitches? He threw 4 IP/77 pitches and 4.2 IP/63 pitches in 2 of his last 3 outings, and hadn't pitched in 6 days.
  20. Santander must be broken mentally for them to not have him pinch hit there.
  21. Francis and Green combined about to break Bonds’ home run record this year. It’s home runs allowed but still.
  22. Francis has given up 14 home runs in 45 innings counting tonight. That's kinda bad.
  23. 2022-24 as a DH: 90 wRC+, 453 PA 2022-24 as not a DH: 134 wRC+, 1511 PA Maybe Tony just hates being a DH. Unfortunately if Santander is not hitting home runs then there really isn't much you can do. At this point I think giving him more OF reps and batting him lower in the lineup is a reasonable first step. Of course it is not going to mean anything until balls start leaving the yard. Once that happens then all is right.
