  1. Doesn't seem likely with Schneider managing, as he is probably twitching to make a pitching change even now, but Bassitt going 7-8 innings today would be huge for the weekend. The Jays have an intentional bullpen game on Friday, and then an unintentional bullpen game on Sunday with Francis starting, so having a fresh pen for the weekend would be ideal.
  2. Below average speed and fielding will hurt his upside a bit, but if the bat is legit, then it certainly help compensate for that. Let's see what he does with more AAA PA's. If he's destroying AAA like he destroyed AA, with underlying/Statcast numbers to match, then he becomes a very interesting piece. A bat-first anything would be helpful to the Jays given their offensive struggles from 2023-2025 (pre May 2025).
  3. Pinango hit a HR last night that went 448 feet with a 109 EV. Apparently based on a screenshot someone posted on X, he also hit 3 balls that were 113, 104, and 109 (single and 2 groundouts) two days ago. No idea how his defense and baserunning grade out, but if he’s hitting the ball that hard then there might be some real upside with the bat. He’s been drawing walks and not striking out that much either so far this season (15.2 BB%, 20.6 K%). At least he might be someone to keep an eye on.
  4. Nice start by Berrios. The bats need to get it going now.
  5. Haven’t seen this posted anywhere else but justified if true. He’s already 24 and doing well in AA. Not much else to do at that level. The team really needs to move some Buffalo position player depth for a SP. It won’t be a great one but “better than Francis” shouldn’t be a high bar to climb.
  6. Yeah Francis is awful, and they have no 5th SP. Not sure how this fix this barring a lot of luck.
  7. Francis is not a big league starter with the amount of taters he gives up. Very frustrating to watch him start. Unfortunately the Jays aren't facing the A's rotation, so this might be a tough hill to climb.
  8. Since April 30, the Jays are 4th in MLB in runs, 2nd in wRC+, and 4th in HR. They are 18-12 over that span with a .600 pythW-L%. They were awful in April, but something definitely clicked after that. Varsho coming back and Barger breaking out certainly helped, especially in place of Wagner and Roden from April. How they piece together the rotation until reinforcements come (either via Scherzer or a trade) is the question.
  9. Yarbrough shutting down the Dodgers through six innings to lower his ERA to 2.83. 😢
  10. Yeah I'd keep Barger at 3B for as much as possible. The occasional start in RF is fine depending on the matchup, but otherwise him turning into a capable 3B is a massive development for the Jays. Don't tinker with that just to get Ernie into the lineup.
  11. Schneider’s fetish for bunting side, this was a great series and much needed by the Jays. They were trapped under .500 way too long. They need to shoot past it now and don’t look back.
  12. Yeah Vlad at least added some tack on runs. I’m legit terrified when the Jays have 1st and 2nd with 0 out now because I know a bunt is happening even if Brian Serven was the next hitter. At least Barger didn’t bunt in the 8th.
  13. Wow, that Clase at bat should get Schneider fired. 1st and 2nd no out with a 2 run lead and the reliever struggling so you have Clase bunt 3 times into an out. Absolute clown show.
  14. Schneider using Little on Friday in a blow out so he couldn’t use him today in a 1 run game certainly aged well.
  15. Kinda need to score some runs today as Little and Rodriguez are likely not available. Green stinks and Schneider is probably salivating to use Swanson in a high leverage spot right out of the gate, which may not be the smartest idea. Doesn’t look like Gausman is lasting too much longer.
  16. Beaston Lucas returned, at least for one more game.
  17. Wasn't this Gausman's regular turn in the rotation? What was the reasoning for the bullpen game, aside from possibly handing the A's a win today?
  18. Wouldn’t surprise me if Clement is the SS next season. Nimmala is looking like a top 50 prospect and don’t know if you want to move Gimenez to short and then potentially move him back to 2B a year or two later when he’s already elite at 2B and hasn’t played SS in years. Of course it’s too early to assume Arjun pans out as well. Hopefully Jimenez ends up becoming something because I like Clement better as a utility IF.
  19. Spence has pitched 2 scoreless innings despite 5 of the 7 batters he's faced having exit velocities of 110, 104.4, 103.2, 106, and 106.2.
  20. Coming into tonight's game, Clement has a 195 wRC+ against LHP (55 PA) and 34 (!) wRC+ against RHP (121 PA). Probably a good idea to use him in a platoon once Gimenez gets back.
  21. You're arguing two different things. If Santander sucked and no one knew what the problem was, then that's different than "Anthony Santander has said that his shoulder/hip issues are helping him limit big swings", which is clearly an injury impacting a player's ability to do the only thing he does well (and why he got the contract in the first place). If all the players you listed were hurt, the org knew they were hurt, the org knew that they made adjustments to their swings to compensate for an injury, and still continued to play them to horrendous results, then yes, they would also get fairly criticized for it as well. If Tony was healthy and sucked, or it wasn't clear that he was hurt, then that's a different story. Just put him on the IL. Maybe that doesn't solve anything but throwing him out there everyday isn't helping either, especially if he's not hitting for power. Tony not hitting for power might be one of the worst players in the league. He literally doesn't provide value in any other way.
  22. If he’s hurt and he’s playing through it (leading to being one of the worst players in the league), while everyone knows he’s hurt, then at what point does the organization step in? If Tony was hurt and no one knew about it, then that’s a different story, but if injury is limiting the only thing he does well and the org just keeps running him out there, then what’s the upside for the team or the player?
  23. Santander playing through an injury that is impacting the only thing he does well. Another smart move by the Jays. He will be a negative WAR player this season and then in Spring Training 2026 we will read stories about how he played hurt all of 2025.
  24. Yeah the rotation isn’t going to last 162 as is. Scherzer might be cooked, and Manoah is coming back from TJS with no guarantee he’s going to be good when healthy. I’m not sure there is help on the way internally any time soon, If the offense was consistently good then they might be able to work around it, but they look great one week and 2024 levels the following week, so I have no idea what to expect from the bats. Probably closer to average offensively, which won’t be enough. They need to be the May offense more consistently to have a shot. I’ve said before this team either needs to go on a real run or fall way out of it. Being around .500 and within 4-5 games of a playoff spot with a lame duck front office is not ideal.
