  1. I'm going to miss Buehrle.
  2. I'd move Bautista to first as well, but I have a feeling with his free agent year coming up he's going to want to play RF. I wouldn't bring Revere back at 6mil or whatever he's due in arby. I'm fine with Saunders/Pillar/Bautista left to right with Pompey in AAA for depth reasons (he'll have a starting OF spot in one way or another in 2017). Depends on whether Saunders is healthy. If not, slide Pompey to left.
  3. Do you guys really think Alex and Gibbons look at sabermetrics? Why reference FIP when the decision makers don't have a clue what it is? He has sucked on the road (legit sucked, not unlucky), and even though it might be a sample size issue, they don't want to risk it during a time when they can avoid using him on the road. He will be back up and he will be starting road games in late August/September unless Stroman is back somehow.
  4. Yeah they are not going to use him during the road trip due to the off days. They'll bring him back when the team goes back home and/or needs a fifth starter.
  5. I think the Jays just wanted to follow the Royals blueprint of ditching Valencia with two months left in the season. A World Series appearance is surely in the cards now.
  6. The Yankees pitching is good, and that's the staff the Jays have had to face for 6 of the last 9 games. The offense will be fine.
  7. Wow, if only they had the opportunity to option Loup and keep Valencia. Oh wait, they did.

If the Jays were winning organically, I think the trolls would have been less prevalent. However, adding two superstar names will bring out the casuals more than anything.
  9. The Jays went all in for this season. They can't possibly be this good in 2016 with 3 rotation spots needing to be filled and their three best 2015 starters (Price, Buehrle, Estrada) needing to be replaced. They better f***ing win the division. I don't want 5 more years of mediocrity after this season just for 2 months of a WC race. So yes, get pissed off when the Jays lose a winnable game against the Yankees. That's baseball, but when a manager directly leads to the loss in ways that even media members (Law) take notice, it's worth "whining" about. It's happened all season....people only noticing now because the games matter more.
  10. No one has said they should win every game. The hyperbole and sarcasm only comes from the people defending Gibbons. Always has in this thread.
  11. Hendriks has a 1.2 WAR, 2nd best in the Jays pen behind Osuna. He's the long man because the manager is a f***ing idiot.
  12. Lowe or Cecil should have been used in the 8th. Best K relievers on the team aside from Osuna (and Hendriks, who will be on the next episode of Dateline due to his unexplained disappearance). Putting a GB reliever in a 2-run game with runners on 2nd/3rd and less than 2 out is asking for inherited runs to score.
  13. It's the reason I want the Jays to win the World Series but clean house on AA and Gibbons. There are clearly smart people in the Jays org, just promote one of them, or go with a smart assistant in another org. Gut the farm system for one season and then be stuck with Hickons for more seasons? f*** no. Just no.
  14. The point was, the reason Betances & Miller are the go-to late inning guys is because they are way better than everyone else in the Yankees pen. The Jays have a 6-deep pen (well, 5, since Gibbons thinks Hendriks is dead). Sanchez doesn't have to be thrown out there every 8th inning, and certainly not 3 out of 4 days. He's not Betances.
  15. The difference between Betances/Miller and the rest of the Yankees pen is far greater than the difference between Osuna/Sanchez and the rest of the Jays pen. Lowe, Cecil, and Hendriks are every bit as good as Sanchez, maybe better.
  16. Lowe is good. Cecil is good. Hendriks is good. Hawkins is solid. He doesn't have to keep the 8th and 9th reserved for 2 guys only.
  17. No, it's not. Sanchez is coming off an injury and is still in his first month of full-time relieving since coming off the DL, and Osuna is 20 with like a 40 IP career high prior to this season. You actually have good relievers in the pen now aside from those two. Use them if those two have pitched in too many games recently.
  18. When the Jays start winning blowouts again, the blowhards in this thread will come in with their sarcasm and talk up Gibbons, while the team's record in close games (when managing actually helps determine the outcome of a game) continues to plummet.
  19. Hey, did you guys hear that no one except Sanchez and Osuna are allowed to pitch the 8th and 9th innings? 3rd game in 4 days? Who cares. It's the 8th. Gotta go with Sanchez. No one else.
  20. The Indians won the series already. That in itself was a semi miracle. That team is hot garbage except for their rotation.
  21. Jays only win when Tulo starts so this game looks like a loss.
  22. So most managers would play a DH in left, play a back-up catcher at DH, risk his DH's health by playing him at first to get said back-up catcher in the lineup, not use his best relievers in the tightest spots, etc? His managing has improved since the trades because the roster is so dummy proof that even Gibbons won't be able to use Ryan Tepera in a high leverage spot, or put Colabello in LF, and so on because the roster/lineup/pen basically writes itself. When he actually had to think to get wins, he was clueless. I'm not saying to get Dusty Baker for "veteran leadership" or whatever you guys accuse anti-Gibby folk of wanting. Just get a guy that knows who his best players are when he doesn't have a f***ing all-star team out there and I'll be happy.
  23. One game below .500 before Tulo, Price, Hawkins, Revere, and Lowe. When he had a roster that was good enough to win but wasn't the super team it is now, they were mediocre like all previous Gibby teams. Gibbons is basically Cito now. He has the best roster in the AL and can win without getting off his seat. That doesn't mean any of the criticisms thrown at Gibbons were invalid. Although I am disappointed my 'DeMarlo takes over and they go on a run' prediction did not pan out. Now Sling Blade will manage here for another few years.
  24. This game is awful. Thanks for nothing, Cleveland.
  25. Cleveland can EAD. Bastards.
